Well

I am ***** at myself here for spilling the beans but I would have thought that the guy from town would know better. I told him that it was between him and the guy with the lowest quote, match it and it is your sale. So much for being a friendly neighbor aye! He used the info to get me to pay more for the tractor from either of these two guys. These guys don't understand that they have an opportunity to earn a "customer" not a sale. What about all the other stuff they sell? I'll need mower, Box blade, service, etc. etc. Unless I have no other choice I am not buying a thing from either of the *******!

I think I would at least tell them that though, I am the type though that it bugs me, even though I don't give them the buisness, I like to let them know where they failed and at least maybe it will save some one else....

A quote is a quote. The lowest dealer should have stood by it. The guy from you town, I am sure was trying to find out what HE did wrong and he wasn't trying to hurt you at all. The problem is the other dealer. They made a mistake and then didn't stand behind their word. At least you know what their word is worth. It’s like a guy that I know. He priced me a trailer that he was having rebuilt at a trailer shop. He sells a lot of new trailers and has other business. Two days later I went to get it and he couldn’t believe that he priced it that low to me. I don’t think that he made anything on it, but he stood behind his word.

I'd like to ask what is fair margin for profit. I'm a salesman, and I think this is a good time to ask all of you that are looking at pruchasing equipment what do you think is fair as far as profit goes? One of the dealers made a mistake on your quote, and actually he should have made that quote good. I did that on a tractor with a loader, made one mistake put the loader on the quote, but didn't charge for it. Well I bought the loader. So, you get together and come up with what you think is a fair margin, and I'll tell you what reality is in this business.

Kubotaman68 & KJB

The only part of it being in writing is on an e-mail that was sent. I am not going to hold in their face. I will simply go somewhere else.

KJB

To answer your question, I believe fair profit margin is determined on what the market demands. It doesn't take long searching the boards here to find out what are fair prices on each particular tractor, implement etc.

To the end of your post. "So, you get together and come up with what you think is a fair margin, and I'll tell you what reality is in this business".

Great statement! Tell us.....I believe we would all like to hear what the reality is in regards to profit margin. When you quote a price what is the standard profit margin on Kubota tractors? Thanks.

your lucky you found out now, instead of when he delivered it. with a different bucket like i did. then they tell u give us the money if you want it and your between a rock and a hard place. make sure they use kubota model numbers on the work sheet, not general terms. and when they transfer them to the P.O it's all there. your word and his word mean nothing when it comes to a dispute. what's on the P.O is what counts and dont look for much help from KUBOTA they dont want to get involved. Good Luck.

WW
p.s i did get the bucket i ordered slightly used after a fight but no one came out happy in the deal. they lost a customer and i lost some sleep and hair
