jbk - I would suggest looking on TractorHouse.com After looking for about 2 years there and also on John Deere machinefinder, I purchased a 2006 JD 3520 cab w/ 300CX for $21,900 in January this year. It had 240 hours. It cost me 2 days vacation and $300 in gas to go to Iowa to pick it up. From my on-line shopping, it seemed that prices were higher as you go farther west. Good luck with your shopping.

Update on my progress of determining what "that" number will be. I went all in for the TLB combo but haven't pulled the trigger yet since I am still trying to get a feel for TLB pricing.

I think I want to basically offer the dealer $29,000 OTD. For those in the know (and without top-secret steals) should I simply be looking for 'that' magical $30k number or are TLB's in this 3x20 series significantly cheaper?
Dealer's at:
3520: $19,390 (same options as first post)
300CX: 3,900
485BH: 7,400
Total: $30,690

Regarding the other items, I've decided that the used market will shave almost two thousand off dealer prices so my focus now is just the TLB.

All the Best

You dead set on a JD Hoe?
I'm pretty impressed with the Woods BH80-X...I think if I had to buy one tomorrow morning for my 3520 thats what it would be. IMO "Shortline" pricing varies wildly from dealer to dealer...all depends on what they want to push..but pretty sure you could end up with a sweet hoe for a few bucks less then the JD one....

Spudland: Not dead set and I did consider the Woods as an option for a future purchase but with the regional 0% financing for 60 months its hard to pass up getting it all right now. I wasn't even going to get a hoe since it is such a big ticket item but the TBN forums certainly show that those with a hoe have not been disappointed and is the one thing many wish they'd of purchased at the onset. I'm sure that Woods 80x is running $6500 out of pocket and cash flow is a consideration in my purchasing decision since I am already way over budget with SWAMBO :D

FWIW the dealer initially quoted me $7200 for the 375 BH and another dealer said he'd do the same price on the 485 and my preferred dealer said he'd match. So to me I'm already up about $800-$900 on the bigger BH.

That said you think I'm out of mind to spend ~$30k on this deal or is it in the TLB 'ballpark'

All the Best

I guess it all boils down to what your looking for and how to go about it...there are some people who go tractor shopping with a list a mile long of attachments and when the dealer semi arrives home they are set for life....then you got someone like me who bought "just the tractor" and I'm cruising along looking for deals, installing stuff myself (like the rear SCV)...got my just like new 1 year old Woods BB for 1/2 of what a new one sells for...

I dont think your out of your mind to spend that kind of green...Personally I'm not a dedicated TLB guy..I appreciate the 110 and such, but I'd rather have the creature comforts & trinkets of the xx20 series...Form over Function has its place...but so does the A/C in my "Cadillac Quality" Cab... Resale on a "Tractor" I would think would be better...larger audience of prospective buyers.

To each his own...kinda hard for me to tell you what to do with your money...seriously, I'd steer you towards a cabbed machine (ditch the BH for now to keep SWMBO happy) before the TLB....

yooper68, BTW, that does seem like a good price.
