3540 Hydraulic leak

The drivetrain will spin as many times in 4wd as in 2wd. I could see less wear on bearings or gears, but not really on the seals from running unloaded.

I've been meaning to address this comment and I'm finally getting around to it. Although I do agree there will be more stress on bearings and gears leaving the tractor in 4x4, the other issue is torque delivery on the prop shaft MAY cause slight flex and eventual wear on seals. That wear shouldn't happen in less then 400 hrs, but in this particular design, apparently something is causing it. The OP talked about a seal working loose and the updated seal kit is driven in place. Why would the original seal work loose to begin with if there is no flex what-so-ever. Just the rotation of the shaft shouldn't cause it to move either way. I suppose another issue could be the shaft isn't exactly concentric and there is a slight wobble. Anyway, just a theory of mine that the less unnecessary stress on a 4x4 system, the better as far a longevity. Thoughts?

It was $1375.00
Just the fluid and filters account for $350 of that which I was getting ready to do myself anyway, so $1,025.00. Shop rate was $69/hr which i consider pretty fair. On initial inspection, it appears to be a professional job with nothing out of place. Well worth the price for a professional mechanic to take care of this.

I'd say it's good knowing going into the dealer you are interested in upgrading. At least you have some breathing room to do a little research. It's the last-minute buys that some people mention that make me cringe. If you need a larger tractor or upgrading to a cab, I certainly would go for it if the dealer gives a decent price on the trade. Being a pre-tier 4 emissions tractor should bring a good price even with the leak. Just keep in mind, you will be buying into DPF on the new one. My M7060 has had one regen so far with no issues.

AH, not too bad, I was expecting more. And yes someone doing it that knows what they are doing is well worth the price!

The Grand Ls are notorious for poor rear remotes. I've had 7 on mine & only have one of the 3 that's a decent one that doesn't leak down fast. Make sure you get good valves on there that don't leak down, especially if you are going to do TnT. I wouldn't accept delivery of a new Grand without verifying any rear remotes would hold a cylinder up against gravity for a few hours with minimal sag.
