I didn't double check with barlow on HD bucket.. but it was quick attach. Frankly.. he is so much lower than my dealer (and even 1500 lower than a family friend who has a dealership that's a couple hundred miles away that offered to deliver) I'm left wondering what is left out.

I doubt anything is left out. I have been buying Kubotas for 7 years now and live in North Central CT. I am on my fourth Kubota and each time I go to purchase and trade I go 3 dealers in CT, 3 dealers in Ma and White's Tractor Supply in New york. The last time and this most recent time 3 weeks ago I once again went with White's because the CLOSEST any of the dealers this time and last were to their quotes was 5,000.00 more and as much as 10,000.00. And that still took into consideration the 600.00 added for delivery. I am not an idiot but most of the people around here must be if that is how much they are willing to take it in the shorts. Trades are tricky but from a straight purchase 1500.00 to 2000.00 does not surprise me in the least. The actual costs on these tractors are a well kept secret that probably require a high N.S.A. clearance to know, but it is easy to extrapolate there is more mark up than many may think. It's called whatever the market will bear. I will keep business local for a few hundred but not for a few thousand. I work to hard for my money to be giving it away. The threat of well if you need warranty work done or repairs the dealer will treat you like carp. I would not know because I really haven't had any need yet except this most recent purchase of my GL3940 requires a windshield wiper line to be repaired and White's will be sending out a repair truck to care of it. Most of the dealers around here both orange and green have real attitudes. Maybe they don't need the business and can get by with gouging and treating people like carp but that does not fly with me. Go with the dealer from out of state, he obviously truly wants your business. Don't let the local guys hold you hostage, life is too short for those kind of games.

It boils down to this, location and sales strategy. Barlows gives you the same tractor anyone else does, and he seems like a really nice guy willing to answer alot of questions. I did not personaly go with them but would recommend them at least by conversation and price. Though as mentioned above, my dealer came close enough on price that I took a small hit to have priortity on repair, warranty and what not. Speaking of price, its no dark secret, no NSA clearance needed lol, Ive spent over 250k at my dealer, so when I started squabbling peanuts he was more than willing to show me thier pricing cost basis book. I will say this, most are not getting ripped off, but comparing to barlows for price really isnt fair. He is a make profit on volume seller... Could be 500 bux a unit, but you sell enough and it works. You also have to consider overhead, it costs a **** of alot less to run an operation on cheap owned land in KY than it does to lease in the DC metro area, payroll is worse too. Just food for thought, but in the end your going to get a great tractor either way... Just find the right dealer.

Overhead, efficiency, labor, land prices and so forth vary so much from place to place. It's simply the cost of doing business that shows up in the price difference from one dealer to another. Pay close attention to the sales tax issues as well.

If it came down to only hundreds than I would agree. The extra cost of doing business isn't always everything reflected in the price. Some of these dealers act like they are monopolies. Pricing options is all over the board as well from one to another on some of the price differences. I was quoted from all the "local" dealers and it varied as much as 35% difference in cost for some of the options. Overhead does vary from place to place but not that much when it starts running into thousands of dollars. Do your homework. If your local guy is willing to come close to a place like Barlow's then by all means go for it. A couple of hundred dollars would not be a deal killer for me. What I do is ask for the best quote and letting them know I am shopping around. If the quote is way out of the ball park I don't bother with that dealer and work with the reasonable initial quotes. That is just my strategy. I have friends that like me will squeeze a nickle until the buffalo poops. More often than not they end up going out of state as well for the same reason. If regionally many of the dealers are on the same page in regards to pricing then the value of going outside of that region comes into play. Just my .02 worth though I prefer that to cost me .01 if possible.

Well.. I'm still chipping away. Trying to make sure I compare "oranges to oranges" :)

HD bucket and cutting edge made 600 difference. So they are 1400 apart.

When I'm home, and have a chance to sit down with local dealer... I think we can come to an agreement. I've got my old JD 1020 up for sale local, and would rather sell it outright than trade.

We'll see.

Either way.. I'm ending up with an orange.

One half a step closer. I'm away on a trip... but my dad did a handshake deal today on my JD1020. (nothings ever really sold till the cash is in hand) It's getting a new home. That means that the one day I'm home between trips next week.. i MAY get to sneek out to the dealer and sign some papers on a tractor.

He's still 1400 higher than barlows.. If I can get him to do rear defrost and quarter window defrost.. I think It will be about 900 higher than barlow. I can handle paying that to buy at a place less than 10 miles away.

I'm going with

3540 Cab
Loader mount hydraulics
2 rear remotes
HD QA bucket on 724 loader

Gonna get a HLA series 2000 front mount snow blade with power angle.

and I think a 1560 road grader from Landpride.

It should go good with all my other stuff.

Do your homework on those attachments and implements to make sure he is not going to make up the difference on the mark ups on those. I would ask him to throw in the filters and oil needed for the 50 hr service if you can. Good luck :thumbsup:

Nothing is cheap when it comes to that and is only going to get more expensive. Look forward to hearing the end results.
