Price Check 3830 pricing

I bought my first tractor from Carvers out of North Carolina. I sold that one and can happily tell you I never had an issue with it that required a dealers attention. My L3830 was purchased at Gold Country, it's about 4 miles from me. I have not needed anything requiring dealer attention to date. I shopped at the various tractor places in Sonoma county. On Highway 101 I went to several of the various dealers on my way to Santa Rosa. I did a job in Santa Rosa over off BiCentennial and would cut through Napa or take Black Point on my way over. Amazing how quick the trip went. I would prefer that drive over the drive to San Jose that I once did anyday, much easier. Where in Sonoma are you?

I am out in the west county, a couple miles east of Occidental. Woods, meadows, hills, creeks, vines, orchards, you name it, it's all there. The weather is close to perfect as well. What's not great (it seems) are the tractor prices, both new and used. Did you buy from Carver for shipment and use here? If so, how did the whole long distance procedure work out? Sounds like you've been fortunate with both of the new machines you've purchased, but had you thought about what you might do if the machine from Carver had needed something within the warranty period?

It did concern me, the long distance warranty work. I was willing to risk it feeling that at the very least, I would have Kubota on my side. My take on Kubota is that the primary functions of the tractor, engine, transmission etc. are bullet proof.

I really enjoy the whole climate here in Northern California. While it is pretty mild, we still get a change of seasons. I particularly enjoy Napa/Sonoma in October, but then, we have a place in Tahoe and that is absolutely the best time to be up there. If you give Georges Tractors in Redding a call, ask for Bill. If talking to Gold Country, talk to Wayne. Let them know your price shopping right up front and are willing to go the extra distance if the price makes sense.

Well, I have about come to my conculsion about going ahead and purchasing the Kubota L3830 with the723 fel heavy duty bucket and r4 tires. My delima is what to add. Go with HST or use the cost associated with the HST and stay with the DT adding the Quick detach bucket along with set of aux hydraulics. Does anyone have a feel which would be money better spent? I have gain a lot of insight from post on this sight and would like to thank everyone on their input and comments.

VERY EASY. If I had a budget that said DT and TnT or HST and no TnT for the foreseeable future, I would opt for TnT and DT and that's from a guy who loves the advantages HST offers, especially for my needs. I have HST, HD bucket and R4's, a truely fantastic setup. With DT you not only get a very good transmission, but a bit more umph over HST. I have more time on DT type transmissions then HST so my 2 cents says DT or Shuttle shift will be spenldid!!!.

DM1, I believe that the L3830DT only comes in a 4WD format, so I am assuming that your quote is for a 4WD (as opposed to 2WD) machine. I am double checking only because I can't seem to find any dealers or other TBN posters who can come close to $18.1 for that unit. Crunching numbers that I found on TBN for the L3130DT, for example, it appears that something in the range of $17K (with 723 FEL) would be very good. The L3830DT lists for $2,930 more than the L3130DT, so a comparable "very good" deal on the L3830DT would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $19.5K. Your quote is much better than that.

RaT, I echo your Tahoe comment. I spent summers there as a kid and my folks live there now. That's why it's not too difficult for me to work in a visit or two to dealers on the way up there.

Riddler, your right the pricing is for a 4 wd. I have done a lot of serching and have to drive about 250 miles to pick-up this orange beauty. This dealer worked real hard with me. The closest price was $700.00 more.

i would not go back to a gear after owning a hst, i have owned two massey ferguson gear drives in the past a 35 and a 135. i have put 80 hours on the kubota since march and the hst has cut mowing time by at least 30%. if i were on real steep grades i think i'd stick with the r1 tires and have them loaded. you give up a lot of traction with r4's but they don't tear up my yard mowing.
