It felt a little tight to me too at first. My old tractor had the shifter between the legs and I sat a lot higher but the old tractor also had a pretty high center of balance and thus my rolling it over once. The 3840 with the wheels out is just about as rock solid on inclines and side hills as I've encountered, unless it has track on it.

I'm 6'1 and have the seat back all the way. After a couple hours of messing around on it I never noticed the 'cramped' part anymore.. other than when both the dogs want to go ride on it as well.
