How does a 4 point hitch differ from a 3 point hitch?

And are implements compatible? I assume a 3 point hitch device will fit a 4 point hitch, but not vice versa?

Maybe I'm showing my ignorance here but I never heard of a 4 point hitch. At any rate, you don't have one on your BX!

No, it's me. I was looking at the specs for the backhoe, which state, "The compact backhoe is equipped with a no-tools-required, 4-point attach/detach mounting system."

Hog, I think the 4 point hitch you are referring to for the backhoe looks like the attached drawing for the BH90. The top is connected with slide in pins and the bottom pins hook in. No tools are needed you just manipulate the backhoe in and out using the bucket and the stabilizers. It cannot be used in place of a 3 point hitch. However it does not have to come off to attach the 3 point hitch.

Was that 4 pt hitch made by Woods? If so, it's made specifically to mount their backhoes to a compact tractor. The hitch is part of a new subframe design for their backhoes. The hitch is not used for anything else, and it does not replace or interfere with the 3 point hitch. The new subframe does not cost you ground clearance the way their old one did, and the subframe stays on the tractor all the time (even when the backhoe is off).

Kubota uses a four point hook up on the backhoe on the BX22-23 B-20-21 L-35 and the L-48 commercial TLB's.
