Well I guess I must be blind, because I can't see anything that looks like an adjustment knob. There is a plate just under the seat. Perhaps it is tucked behind the access panel... I hate taking stuff off I don't know what it is supposed to do... seems like I end up breaking more than I fix.

Unless Kiotis are different than what I am use to, push the draft lever all the way forward or down. Then you should be able to use the position control to control the lift.

They are the same Jerry.
The draft lever should be all the way forward for the position control to work properly.

Some of the older model DK 35's did not have the speed adjustment knob.
I have a 2001 model and it has no speed adjustment.

Hey , JeffandTamara on my DK50 the position control always worked flawless. As Vince said you can stop the 3pt anywhere you want with the position lever. Until one day I was pushing an old truck chassis around the farm with my box blade and it kicked up over the truck frame. This caused the 3pt arm to go higher than they should. After that I could not control the hieght of the 3PT it became very erratic and jerky. I had broken something internally. But first before tearing it apart I checked the adjustment of the position control lever as per the shop manual. make sure it clamps tightly on the shaft going into the tranny. nothing helped so I removed the seat and access panel ,then the three point arms and three point assembly (rock shaft housing ) and there was a threaded pin broken off (aprox. 1 in long). Luckly it had not fallen into tranny.I replaced it with a new one. (updated and improved it was flanged and heavier) Now it works fine again. Hopefully yours is a simple solution.

Also my DK50 is a 2001 model and does not have a speed control knob for the 3pt although my manual shows one.

ok the speed adjustment knob may not have anything to do with this problem you are having, but it might be if the knob is set to the heavy side it will also lock it in the upright position.
so If you check it and make sure it is not turned up too far then that elimanates one problem.
The knob is just below the seat weight adjustment on the pannel just up from the floor, and you dont need to take anything apart !! mine is a gray knob you turn by hand, clockwise is more conterclockwise is less.
atleast thats were it is on my 2006 dk 35 ,mabey you dont have this on yours? and yes I also have the two levers pos/draft to the right of the seat.
if you want me to I will take a pic of it and put it on here for you.
thanks

I don't think there is a knob to control 3PH speed...but I think a picture is in order. My DK35 is a 2003.
At this point I wish Engineering school had a basic hydraulic class instead of Linear Algebra, Numerical Calculus and Differential Equations....As far as mechanical operation of the position control lever. It seems to work freely and smoothly. I would think if there was some mechanical binding, I could sense something wrong there.... I am leaning towards a malfunction in the position control mechanism. Is this some kind of valve. I am trying to think of how a position control might work and what could possibly cause the observed behavior. My guess is this valve allows a set amount fluid to pass then somehow seals off. So leaky seal somewhere? I work with a real sharp Hydraulics guy, so I am gonna pose the quesiton to him, Perhaps he can shed some light...I'll try to post what I learn.

Another Year has come and gone since I had initially posted the thread. I am sitll having problems with the 3-pt hitch not being able to stop at intermediate positions. If anything it might be worse, it seems like I could get it to stop at different hights before, but it took some time and a few tries, Now I have two chocies either all the way up or all the way down. It goes smoothly and strongly up and down,,,just won't stop in between. as you might imagine, this is a real problem hooking up anything and using a box blade or a plow is all but impossible. The good news is the backhoe stays on it most of the time, so I tend to forget about the problem.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem? and if so, what was the solution? ( oh yeah, 2001 DK35, about 675 hrs I think)

As always,,,Thanks for any insight...

Maybe I can draw Wallace into this one. Isn't there some type of mechanism between the actual lever that controls the lift position to some other actuating valve itself. I vaguely remember something about this adjustment one time with someone else. If everything is not set just tickity boo the position control will not work correctly. Maybe someone else that is more familiar with this setup will chime in. Am I out in left field on this one?
