Do the bigger agricultrial tractors have down pressure?? I dont see why the OEMs can make it standard.

Full-sized agricultural tractor 3 point hitches do not have down pressure either standard or as an option. The hitch is powered to raise only.

<font color="blue"> Is there any company of Compact tractor that makes a 3pt hitch with down pressure?? maybe this seems like a dumb question, but using a post hole digger in some soils, this would help alot. It would also help with a rear blade in some circumstances.

Not to my knowledge. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

There are several manufacturers of post hole augers that attach to the FEL bucket and run with hydraulics. You would then have power down.

This is not a 3pt like you specifically asked about, but our Power Trac has power down on the front lift arms. That is where all the implements attach. There is someone over in the Power Trac forum that has a larger model than mine and has done over 70 holes in an hour. I think it included an auger change, too.

I think this goes to to design of CUTs being all wrong for most homeowner needs. To me, mowing, snow plowing, FEL work, forklift, brush hog, snow blowing, leaf removal... all typical homeowner tasks, are better accomplished with the implements out front, where you can see them. Most homeowners have no need to pull a plow through the earth, where the 3pt setup works great. A scraper blade would also probably work better on the back. Maybe the ideal machine would be similar to the Power Trac, but with a 3pt on the rear.

I really like what some folks do with putting a skid steer quick attach on the FEL of their CUT. That looks like a very versatile setup, as well.

I have a friend who has a Kubota CUT, a 28hp model. He had problems grading his drive as the blade wanted to follow the ups and downs of the tractor, making dips along the way. His dealer installed a downpressure kit and his problems went away. He paid $500 for the kit and $200 installation.

I called my JD dealer about one and they said they can get the kit for my 2210 but it would be $2000 installed! They have only done 1 tractor, probably due to the cost.

So..I guess the short answer is: downpressure is an option on most if not all CUTS.

alot of larger ones do have down hydralics. Not the super massive ones which are just tow rigs but alot of large tractors do. examples JD 7020 series 140-170pto hp 4wd has downpressure std

Thanks wildman. It sounds like you can get it, but its a dealer installed option. I wonder why there is no mention of it on Kubotas website. $700 is alot for what it is. Too bad they dont come from the factory with it.

I thought they might no put downpressure on CUTs because many rear impliments are not designed to support that kind of stress. If up put to much down pressure on a rake, you would permanatly bend the tines.

Wildman, I haven't found that kit yet could you get me a model number? There is a lot of three point hitch equipment built today that I don't believe will handle the down pressure on the tongue.

Art, I just got off the phone to my buddy with the Kubota. He has a 1996 L2900. He got it from Big Sky Tractor in Missoula, Montana. They also installed the down pressure kit. They had the Kubota kit and an aftermarket kit, which was cheaper. He had the aftermarket kit installed and now wishes he had gone with Kubota's because his kit leaks and is reputed to be of lesser quality he has since found out.

The kit has hydraulic rams on both lower 3ph arms. They had to plumb into the existing hydraulic system to install it. He also installed a hydraulic toplink which uses the remote.

We don't know the model number but I'm sure a Kubota dealer could supply that info since it's a Kubota dealer installed option. Deere also has the same option.

I think the new Allmand tractor has down pressure. THey make the Contractor line of backhoe loaders and also make light plants and arrow signs. I know how handy down pressure is when grading and dirlling post holes is. Older Farmalls had enough down pressure that the mid mount cultivatrs could lift the tractor off the ground enough to change the front tires. Also these landscaping loaders like Case manufacturs are also down pressure on the boxblade lift. they do a real good job for fine grading.
