I mentioned that Loretta was starting her vegetable garden now that she's got her tractor back.
Here are a couple photos that shows some of the work she's been doing. I also shared some other photos in her "New Mods to Loretta's 284 Jinma" thread. The last 2 are of the "backyard" with Loretta taking a break.

This week we'll concentrate on getting those Oaks limbed and bucked and stacked up for future firewood.
Another thing we must do is get some of the fruit trees into the ground and run irrigation to her garden. I hope there is enough time to do that this week since it will start getting really hot before long.

Here are some photos that show Spring is in full bloom already around our place.

Ain't spring great, Rob? Soon you will not even be able to see any of those
pesky neighbors....

Rob,

The place is beautiful. I really like the wildflowers. I bought a few pounds of wildflowers to plant this year...those things can get expensive!!

You need to save ALL your wildflower seed and discount them to TBNers:D

Thanks guys, no doubt Spring here is our most enjoyable season.
Loretta wanted to start her garden but there were a bunch of downed trees in part of her garden area. We agreed that Loretta would drag them into a spot where I could limb and cut them up. She would then chip all the branches. There was quite a bit to do. The first thing I did was build two 16 foot long "pallets" to stack the cut log on. Loretta kept dragging more trees in!
Weather was perfect today ... 75F.

We never did get to that pile in the first photo with her tractor in the above post.
But we got all the new trees she dragged all cut up and branches chipped. While I limbed the trees, Loretta dragged the branches over to the chipper and made short work of them.

After getting all the small branches cut off, I started sawing up the logs.
I used my new cant dog which I call a log dog.:) Loretta helped me stack the 20" logs on the pallets. The pile kept growing an growing. All this wood still needs to be split too. Plus we have that giant pile down on the road and still need to saw up that huge pile in that one photo.

Finally, Loretta could get back to leveling out her garden.
When she got enough dirt moved, she hooked up the Leinbach 7200 post hole digger on her Jinma. She dug 10 holes for her orchard all 3 feet deep so she could mix fertilizer, compost and soil.
This is the first time we ever had an orchard.

We will have several apples, pears, lemons, oranges, cherries, almonds and a pomegranate tree.
The extra holes are for other fruits she wants to grow. Here is the start of our first ever orchard and Loretta is a happy camper. Each tree has a protective wire netting all around and on the bottom of the roots. We will need to fence off this area to keep the deer and other critters out.
The tractors are resting now after a long couple days work.

A work in progress. Your place is really coming along. Lots of hard but satisfying work.
I see you and I are using the same kind of storage for our PHDs. Great minds think alike.

LOL ...
Sure makes it easier to get it off and on again.
Someday I'll build a real storage rack for it. Right now, the tree is better than having to pick it up off the ground!:)

Looking good Rob, looking good. As we grow almonds over here for a cash summer crop I have done quite a bit of research on them. Please let Loretta knwo that she will have better success with almonds if she plants two different varietals tha pollinate each other. If oyu plant allt he same type of almond tree you won't get very many almonds. Also not almonds are the same, the best are the huge almond nuts. Check U.C. Davis website for tons of research on almonds. Also she might enjoy getting the fruit and nut newsletter Merced County - Tree and Vine Newsletter
I don't know if you can grow them there or not but I have always wanted an avacodo tree.
