A diverter valve won't allow you to do three things simultaneously, either. The diverter switch changes the function of your joystick from controlling the lift and curl to controlling the grapple. So, you have to stop lifting/curling to switch to the grapple with either a diverter switch or a separate handle.

Not to split hairs here, but the electric diverter only diverts the CURL circuit, not both the LIFT and CURL. You could still lift the bucket and close the grapple at the same time.

John Deere electric diverter switch with 3rd & 4th (or 4th and 5th) plumbing is $1150 for a 3320. Seems like it was a little more for my 4410, but maybe not. The hard line plumbing for the loader is $291 -- pretty close to $1500. 3rd party might be a lot cheaper, but the Deere 3rd SCV with rear remote is $211. That's a pretty big difference.
Bandits. Instead of painting it green they should paint it gold. I can just hear the parts guy now, "Bend over...".:D

Not the JD diverter. It gives you two more circuits, not one. Throw the switch and it is now controlling both other circuits -- even if you only have one functional.

Yea, I was thinking that you would engage pile of debris with open grapple, come down on it, then probably lift loader arms as you close grapple, if the pile is on the ground, so you don't get large pile of dirt with the load.

That's why they are rakes on the bottom, so the dirt falls through. I think you'll have better luck picking up from the side rather than the top.

"Lift loader arms as you close grapple....." allows your debris to fall out. Close the grapple completely, then lift.

Well, if yours is a single circuit, then it is not so different. The 1150 is for the diverter switch and plumbing for two additional circuits.

Does that include the grapple itself? My paid price did.

That's still an outrageous price no matter how you cut it.

I have a DX29 with the QA bucket and grapple. I asked the dealer to install a valve controlling a set of rear remotes, and then they tee'd from those lines with lines along the loader arms to the grapple. The grapple is an Add-A-Grapple with a single set of jaws run by one cylinder.

It seems the cost for the grapple and plumbing was in the neighborhood of $500 when I bought the tractor about a year ago.

I find it very effective to either run the bucket (with a home made long toothed toothbar) under a pile then close the grapple, or hold the bucket pointing down (rolled?) and lower the bucket with open grapple onto the pile and close the grapple, then curl the bucket back and close the grapple more, depending on how much of a bite it took. With the grapple closed, rolling the bucket against the bump stops a couple of times shakes most of the dirt out when I bite too deep.

The teeth also help a lot when picking up a big load of manure. I can grab about a double load with the grapple compared to just a bucket.

There is a difference in bucket shapes with Case. The QA bucket has a lower lip that does not protrude as far forward from the upper lip compared to the standard bucket. This may affect how well the bucket will slide under a pile. With mine, the leading edge of the sides is almost perpendicular to the ground when the bottom is level. You might want to check bucket shapes before you buy anything.

You said your WR Long diverter valve (single circuit) was $520 plus 100 for plumbing. How is that so much better than 1150 for two circuits?

I got a single circuit 3rd SCV for just over $250 dollars installed --- who bent over?

I am not trying to say you got a bad deal, but when we're making comparisons for the sake of shoppers, let's be sure we're talking apples to apples.

I bought a third function valve not a diverter. Big difference, about $100 more. The WR Long kit came with all hoses including the work port hoses, fittings, QD's, all the electronics including the joystick button control mounted in a knob, and a mounting plate for the solenoid valve.

The JD price is still too high since a 2 spool third function valve will only cost about $100 more than the single spool. Nobody in his right mind would buy 2 single spool "kits" to get a 2 spool setup, so your so called apples to apples comparison is not valid.
