3rd function kit

Looks like that's a diverter and not a true third function if that matters to you.

Seems a little pricey. You don't need a 24GPM valve. Here is a better priced kit if that's what you want.

Ok thanks for the info. I guess a diverter has 6 ports and a true third function has 4 ports. Thx for the info on a better price!

MtnView, can (should) you run a hydraulic motor with the diverter valve kit you linked? If not, any suggestions?

You can use a diverter to get the additional set of outlets, but the main controlling valve should really be a motor spool valve (a control valve specifically built to operate a hydraulic motor) which most people don't have, so you need to always keep in mind that you should slowly feather the valve closed when stopping the hydraulic motor.

?? So a set of outlets, from a diverter off the curl/dump function of a fel won't work? I don't see how you can scroll between curl/dump and motor on, when the motor is on? What am I missing?

You can't. The proper way to operate a hydraulic motor is to use a motor spool valve. The problem with a motor spool valve is that you can not use them for cylinders. So with you using your loader valve and a diverter to run I assume a hyd PHD, you need to keep in mind that you need to feather down the motor before you let off the diverter control switch.

Lots of people do this without any problems, but that does not make it right.

No problem. I fact I've been reading with interest. Keep it going!

Is there a 12 volt dc pressure/power beyond motor spool valves, that is suitable for use as a 3rd function on the FEL? Any suggestions?

Yes there is an electric, motor spool valve. Contact these guys and they can get you set up.

Can always put a crossover relief valve on the motor, to relieve pressure from one side to the other if you arent using a motor spool.

It boggles my mind how much people are selling "diverter" kits for. $500+ is just insane. Because all you get is a ~$200 valve, and maybe $50 worth of fittings and wiring.

IF you understand just a little bit about hydraulics, you can "assemble" you kit for MUCH less $$$. Just have to know what you need.

There is my problem.I do not know what I need. That is the reason for my questions. Can/would you explain your statement about the crossover relief valve on the hydraulic motor? Thanks
