Hello all. Recently the button that turns on the 3rd function valve on my 3940 quit working. I went to my local dealer for the part and was shocked that he wanted $130 for a simple on off switch. Yes I know it's the Kubota OEM valve that I have on it but I don't see how a push button can cost that much. So does anyone know a better place for parts or how to make one yourself?

Many times you can find a less expensive solution to replace an expensive part. It may not look factory but it can work as well or better.
My favorite example: In the 80's I worked in a Datsun/Nissan parts department and needed a distributor mounted ignition module for my truck. Even at my cost it would have been over $300. After doing some research I bought a firewall mounted module for a Plymouth and wired it in to look factory. Cost: $17 plus a few wiring connectors.

I didn't get a pic of it today but it's the button mounted about halfway up the fel joystick. Turns green when its on and lets the hydraulics on the grapple work. It is not one of the two buttons that you work with your thumb on the top of the joystick to actually make the cylinder move.

Oh! I have that button too. I don't understand it really. Just hot wire past it. Don't push the button too much when the grapple isn't connected.

I was thinking of that but I have the electric skills of a slow monkey.

Please explain WHY Kubota have a push buttom? A true 3 function doesnt need a electric push button in my view. And how does this push-buttom work? Sorry dont want to steal this thread, but I would be very happy if someone could explain

Remove the switch and twist the 2 wires together. I think a slow monkey could do that...just try to watch where you sling the pooh

The Kubota 3rd function uses and electrically actuated valve to control the flow. The switch in question activates/deactivates the functional button on the control handle itself. This allows the operator to use the 3rd function without removing their hand from the loader control. It is pretty kickbutt actually.
