finally wore out my slim grip rigid 4.5 grinder.

I really liked the trigger setup and grip on this, but do not see any like it now.

thinking about getting a made in Germany metabo. any other recs? seems like in the 100ish dollar price point, you can get about any of them. I am a fairly light user, but appreciate a quality piece. never really felt like i needed a ton more power with the orange one, rated at 7 amps. Metabo rated at 8.5. the 11 or 15 amp rated ones look quite a bit heavier/larger on the grip.

I have a DeWalt DWE402W and really like it. I had a 7 amp (I think) Black and Decker Firestone before which was nice, but the DeWalt just never runs out of power...

It's weird enough to see a post come up on another tractor board, but to see it on a completely different topic board is like really farrrrr out man!!!

had something i bought at a partsarama 20 plus years ago, the cord/motor connection got funky, spent $10 w/ coupon at harbor freight...seems fine to me. came with wrench and spare brushes.

I like the Bosch paddle grip models.

In 4.5 inch grinders my fave would be the 10 amp Makitas but my 8 amp Walter is pretty nice too with a slimmer grip.

Check out the variable speed grinders too. They have their place for cleaning and finishing. Gives you that variable speed type of feel.I have a Walter that has variable and it has been great.

From what I’ve seen their are 3 types of triggers. That will be your big ergonomic factor. The way the guard works is also a factor- some have quick swivels and some require some effort to move. Beyond that I haven’t seen anything that will significantly outdo another. The 4.5” grinders with soft start feature probably won’t really make much difference....but maybe something to think about.
