Regarding types of triggers.

I like slide switch locked on for grinding wheels and cupped wire brush and paddle switch for zip cut wheels and circular type wire brush.

Before I retired I noticed Metabo was the grinder of choice for the Boilermakers who did the outage work in our plant.

I have three on my bench and a new spare in the cupboard. I don't know if it is the amperage (10) or the brand, but I like my DeWalts. When I retired, I gave my Makita and something else to my kids as they felt under powered and I no longer needed them as spares.

It's been a few years since I was working on air tools, but the best by far, and of course most expensive, were the Sioux tools, including their grinders.

I have 3 with the Dewalt being the best built and most expensive of them all. One of them is a HF model and it is significantly lighter but has held up for many years and works as well as the Dewalt. These are used in a hobby environment, not in any kind of professional capacity.

I'm a fan of buying 5 cheap Harbor Freight grinders for the price of a single nice grinder. At $20 each they are disposable & you can have a few with different wheels on ready to go without grabbing wrenches.

I have 2. one is a 4.5" and the other is a 9". they lasted 3 years so far, the 4.5" has plenty of power, but the 9" can't be stopped by anything!.. I only buy good quality wheels, though. they out last the Harbor Freight wheels by a good margin!..

harbor freight consumables are junk. i found a dewalt sale at a local murdochs, and got a great deal on dewalt wheels and stuff, so i have a good stock of them now.

kept being tempted by the metabo, so ordered that one. thanks for the recs though. i may pick up a VS one as well, sounds interesting. have not used one before.
