Go with a Stihl forget the Echo.

The Stihl has more crankshaft bearings than the Echo has.
It's almost impossible to tangle weeds around the shaft of my Stihl. And it's easer to clear the weeds it they do happen to tangle.I have never seen another trimmer work as well on that. )</font>

They need more bearing because they are running more off the crankshaft .The stihl has over 35 moving parts compared to echos 6. The new shield on the trimmers reduce the weed build up.

Whether or not there is oil mixed with the gas doesn't change emissions. Both oil and gas are petroleum products and leave the same byproducts if not burned completely and that is why the edge goes to 4 stroke.

2 stroke doesn't have valves, just an input port and exhaust port that is closed or opened purely by the position of the piston. Exhaust gases are still firing in most cases as they are being pushed out the exhaust port and do not burn completely. In fact for high performance tuned exhausts to function there MUST be an incomplete burn in the piston. It uses the explosive unburnt gases to actually force remains back into the piston to act as a supercharger of sorts.

4 strokes have valves that open and close and keep gases where they should be for a more complete burn. But the downside is the extra weight and complexity and less horsepower per pound of engine.

Well geeeeee better tell the tree huggers that. You take a 4 stroke trimmer engine , That requires gas and oil mix , Just as the two strokes the envirowackos are outlawing due to the smoke,,,,,,, And you mix to much oil to gas and i dont give a rats **** if its a 15 stroke or have 50 valves , The **** engine Is still going to smoke , just as the 2 stroke engines they ***** about , so the 4 stroke that takes gas/oil mix , Fixed what?????????? Nothing
