4 door diesel 4x4

I've had mine for three weeks now and it's everything they said it would be. I don't know what else you could ask for in a truck. 25,900 lbs. combined weight rating, huge brakes, beefed up frame, coil suspension, the integrated brake controlled, 325 hp and 590 lbs. torque, and of course the awesome King Ranch package!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll echo what cowboydoc says about the rear seat. A quadcab is not the same as a crewcab. I owned an '03 Dodge 3500 quad, and now have an '04 Ford F250 crewcab. The difference is very noticeable. There is a six inch longer wheelbase on the Ford, plus a shorter engine (V-8 vs straight 6). If rear seat room is important to you, go with the crewcab. My dogs actually picked out the crewcab, because the rear seat is theirs /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Also, the Ford's five speed auto is awesome in tow haul mode. The engine braking it provides slows the rig on level ground almost to a stop without using pedal brakes.

Tom,

Is it just me or is that load a little too far forward on that trailer? It looks like the tongue weight is way too high.

I had the Powerstroke for 4 years and sold it. I would take a Cummins over a Powerstroke anyday.

Other then that Ford sucks with paint. Both are good and bad but I would not own another Ford Diesel until there re-design the engine or International/Navistar does.

Yea they just did redo the whole engine with the 6.0 Mike. Also if you had one four years ago you had the 7.3 liter powerstroke. That engine rated better than the Cummins for longevity and least repairs over the last 10 years.

Gary........It was a bit further up than I like it usually, The owner loaded it on for me..........I like to do them myself usually, but I didn't own this one and he insisted on driving it. This was just a short 3 mile run to my shop, so I didn't re center it. That particular lift weighs 9750#...........Trailer about 2900#...............Tom

I know they re-did the motor in 1999 or 2000. Maybe they did agin for 2005. I still know the Ford electronics suck from when I had it other newer PS. Example, internal glow plugs (GP) ? Bright move. Plus get rid of the GP and get a grid!

Plus I hope this new tranny does not turn out to be another E40D!

Unless I can get another one at "true" dealer cost, no thanks.

Geez Mike you bash everything foreign and now you bash 100% good old american international and Ford. At least if you're going to bash Ford have your facts straight. The 7.3 litre powerstroke was produced from 94-03. In 03 they redesigned the motor to be emissions compliant and came out with the 6.0 litre. Dodge and Chevy are now completely electronic engines as well. They are both having growing pains as well trying to be emissions compliant.

I will take “Made in Japan” over any “100% good old american international and Ford"; Hence give me a Toyota truck over a Ford, Dodge, GM etc. American quality is slowly coming up to 1990 level of foreign auto’s. You do not see Ford or GM on the top of dependability. Even foreign light-weight trucks are gaining strength. I had a Ford, Pontiac and the wife had a GM car. They are not even in the same class as a Mercedes, Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Saab, Acura, Nissen, etc. Again it goes back to the get what you pay for.

Here is a link to all the cars. Look at all the above and below averages. Need I say more. http://www.jdpa.com/news/releases/pressrelease.asp?ID=2003050#

I know the 7.3 Powerstroke (PS) was born in 93 and lasted till 2002 (being sold). I got mixed up since the new body style was in 99, gee sorry. I got mixed up. The old-school 7.3 went back into the 80’s. The original one was ok but not like the PS. I do not know all the "history" since I sold the truck and could careless about the history/re-designs. Unless I see some great write up from a major corportaion, I do not know or wantto.

All I know is from the guys at work that whine and complain about them. The tranny surges, or I had to re-flash this, ..... I wish I could spend $37K on a truck and then add this, fix that...unreal I think there must be a Ford group at work since they have like 10+ truck all lined up.

I know the new 6.0 was due to the new emission and hence more crap electronics from Ford. Since it was EPa driven it will only add problems. Do not forget with every electronic device there is always a way around it (circuit wise). It is amazing what the shop manual can do for ya! By-pass this, disconnect that, add a resistor, voltage follower..:)

I only bash foreign items when they are “crap”. Example, RCA or a cyber home DVD at you local friendly Wal-Fart stores. These foreign items are junk. Buy a Denon or Sony.
