Would my 4700 4wd pick up a 4 row 7000 Deere planter with no markers ok? I have 4 front weights but can ad 4 more I believe.

"pick up" as with the FEL, or is this planter on a 3 ph? Not sure when you mention front weights so am thinking maybe this is on the 3 ph.

And I would expect it would handle the load on the rear - with front weights.

I thought the 7000 planters were pull type, not 3 ph.

Or are you asking if the hydraulics will lift the pull type planter out of the ground?

I should have been more specific. It is a 7100 planter. I am a little worried about keeping the front end on the ground with a 4 row. The dealer says it should be ok. Like I said I can add 4 more weights to the front if i need to. Thanks for the reply.

That does make a difference. :D
The dealer says it works, so you should be able to hold him to it if it doesn't. Seems the FEL will help if need be.
If not, then going larger tractor may be necessary.

Only problem is I don't have a loader on it.

The 7100 has wheels. Why would it be difficult to pick it up?, you just hook up the hoses and pull the lever.

they made some that were mounted. (3 point). and others have taken units off bigger drawn planters and made 2-4 row food plot type planters.

I'm pretty sure he's asking because he knows its a 3 point model.

to answer the question....

i have a model 71 planter with the big fiberglass hoppers. I lift it no problem with a 3320 full of seed. i previously used a 2520 to do it as well. and i've done it without a loader on the front.

I think the 7100 has a bigger bar usually so there will be some more weight, and the units are probably a little heavier as well. but empty of seed id have to guess no problem with a 4700.

The 7000 was pull type with wheels. 7100 same row units as a 7000 but was a 3ph unit.

I've always wondered what a 7100 was too never seen one up here i'l sell you an 8 row 38in row 7000 for $1500 :)

Is the 7100 notill? I am thinking about a notill four row 7000 corn planter with 36 inch rows (the standard in this part of the world) and am concerned that my 45 hp Kioti is going to have trouble with it. Might have to go with my IH 1066 but see that as overkill.

The 7000 or the 7100 can be equiped with no till coulters. The 7100 I am looking at is equiped with no till coulters. I am trying to decide if I buy it whether to get the no till coulters or swap them for trash whippers. I am leaning toward trash whippers because I don't do much no tilling. 45 hp is plenty of power for pulling it. My 4700 is 48 hp (41 pto ) but my main concern is lifting it on the 3ph and keeping the frontend on the ground. I believe I should be able to.

A 36 inch row is hard to sell up here . it's been 30inch since the 90's and last 3 or 4 years most around here are on 22inch now thats why i'm stuck with my 38 inch (we're on 30 last few years)

We pulled 4 row with 75hp then 6 row with 95hp then 8 row with 145hp I would'nt go any smaller hp wise but we do have extended fert boxes too .

A few pics. The IH is 100hp and had to pull it for a few days last year but was not big enough for 8 row really and harder to keep straight .

Your tractor will lift it easily. Put the extra weights on it.

I will have a four row 7100 for sale shortly if anyone is interested. Thirty inch spacing with corn fingers and soybean cups
