I've been a lurker for some time and have benefitted from some posts on making small adjustments on my TC40DA.
The problem I have now is my 4 wheel drive lever will not allow me to disengage the drive. I'm not qualified enough to make any major repairs but was wondering what I might be getting into.

mine will not come out unless I back up and turn wheel left to right.

Rock it forward/backwards as you move the lever. The 4x4 drivetrain will bind up; moving slightly forward/backwards wil ease that pressure on the drivetrain.

If you have a loader, you can just lift the front tires off the ground.

Common issue; happens to lots of 4x4's; trucks, Jeeps, Tractors...

My dad's tc40 is the same way. He has to rock it back and forth along with cutting wheels.

If you have a loader try lifting the front wheels off the ground and sifting the 4 wheel drive.

if you don't shift it in or out in a while, make it a parctice to do so at least weekly. As you found out, what the others said.. driveline runup can cause it to bind.

my EXNH 1920 was the same way.
