On a related note...the 3120 has the same engine displacment (90.1) as the 3520 and 3720. The turbo is the difference in HP. The 3320 is listed as 100.1 cu. in. Will the 3520 or 3720 get better fuel economy than the 3320 even with the increased HP, or does the pressure negate the lower displacement?

Without re-reading the whole thread, go to Nebraska tractor tests and dig. You'll find that the boost pressures go up about 2lbs per model.

Well, heck if it's all in the boost... why did Deere throw in the bigger block and not just throw a turbo on it and move it up the line to a 3520 and 3720? Like they did with the 402X series. Same engine just increased turbo boost and pump tweaking (or different pump).

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I was referring to the 4X20 series as the thread subject headline denotes.

OK, that makes sense. I was working off the last post from toulomne (sp?).

So... not to get off track here too far; but why would Deere drop the block size and then boost it on the 3520 and 3720?

Why not stick with the larger displacement engine and just boost that one?

Compete too much or overlap too much with the 4120?

Probably all of the above. Also, I believe the 3x20 series still use a Yanmar engine, while the 4x20 series is using a John Deere engine.
