Tractor
John Deere 4320
Has anyone had problems with the quick attach brackets on the 400x loader? I have broken one on each side where the pin on the bucket goes through bracket. That part of the bracket is about 1/4" cast. This is my first experience with a part breaking on a JD loader, I've used others the same way I use this one and never had a problem. Just wondering if anybody has used one and had similar results.

Welcome to the forum.

Been around a lot of Deere tractors and loaders, but this one escapes my recollections. What tractor is it on?
A pic of the damaged part area would help too.

Your bio please - thanks.

I have a 400x on my 4720

I Have had no problems, however I've never even taken the bucket off yet. Only 80ish hours on the set right now.

I don't think there are too many 400x loaders out there just yet.

Here are some photos of the part and its mate. I have looked at other JD loader hookups and they are all plate, welded steel. This is a cast part.

On my 4520 with the 400X FEL, the part appears to be a forging rather than a casting. Sand castings usually have a 'grainy' appearance/feel, whereas forgings are somewhat smoother. And, as you undoubtedly know, forgings are almost always stronger than rolled plate steel. But, appearances can be deceiving, especially after having been painted with the John Deere green.

If you break this part it should be covered by warranty. I doubt if it will be covered after welding but it is worth a try. My dealer told me that if enough of these break that JD sometimes steps back and looks at the design possibly changing it to reduce breakdowns. BUT you have to let your dealer and/or JD know there is a problem. Also, my dealer said as long as it is covered under warranty to keep bringing the two halves in and they would replace them- after it's off warranty, then look at another fix, if JD has not changed the design.
