Just wanted to let you know of a recently discovered problem with my MMM.
After firing up the mower for the first time this season, I noticed the tractor was lugging a bit more than usual. This was followed by a good deal of white smoke emanating from the mower deck. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I immediately removed power to the PTO.
The smoke was caused by the drive belt rubbing into the left side pulley housing shield and buring the paint off. The idler arm bushing had seized, causing the belt to pop off of one of blade pulleys. The seizure was caused by too much green paint on the upper and lower mating surfaces of the idler arm bushing. I removed the excess paint, cleaned and reamed the idler arm shaft/bushing and re-lubed the entire assy. This problem was acknowledged by my dealer and after some negotiation, they agreed to provide me with a new belt.
You may want to check your idler assemblies and verify that they are freely pivoting.
