Agreed, but I don't think I can touch the 10 series for anywhere close to this price. I'm sure it would be 1500 to 2000 more, at a minimum. Dealers aren't real motivated to sell just-released models.

Take a look at midlawns.com. These guys discount their tractors right off the bat and are really nice guys to work with.

I got quotes from 3 JD dealers on a 4410. 2 of them (Midlawns included) were both w/in $300 of the price I had been quoted on a 4400 a few weeks earlier, and I believe I probably had more options in the 4410 quote. So they were discounting them pretty heavily.

I did talk to one JD dealer locally whose quote was $1700 higher than the next closest one. I don't know if he was trying to charge a premium for the new 10 series or was just thinking I was stupid. Either way, he certainly didn't get a sale.

Gee Richard you sure just cheered me up with that resale comment, ouch! /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif. But I do agree, 4100s should be sold below $14500 now

Terry, Hello, Yes i would have the same suage for the box, as I do not need a back blade (got a front blade). I am Gunning for the MMM soon and the 36 " China Depot Dirt Scoop"www.chinadepot.com". Supposedly scoops 12 Cubic ft of materia for $350. I would use the dirt scoop and load it up with about 500lbs of something (Rocks, boulders!)

I may be wrong, but I think you can get one for $200-250. everyday price at most farm stores... and cheaper at auctions... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Nuru,
You know there's a dealer on another thread complaining about how people don't understand what it takes to stay in business. Yet when I was at the dealer last night to pick up some filters there was a guy I know in there wanting to buy one of the new 4710's. He had bought one of the 4700's that was a 2000 model with only 140 hours. He was upset because they weren't giving him anything for his trade-in. The salesman's exact words were well that's an old model now. Nobody is going to want them so they have to be discounted!! Then they had the gall to tell him that his implements were only worth 50% of what he'd paid for them!!!! That's what gets me about dealers. They want to discount you for everything and then you try and discount them a little and they cry they're going out of business. No it wasn't us consumers that created this low ball deal it's the dealers that created the whole low ball deal.

I have a great idea on the subject of pricing tractors. Maybe the dealers should just stick with MSRP, and then everyone would pay the same price, and then the used equipment would be worth more. Another way to get good deals on all new equipment is to invest about $5,000,000.00 on a dealership, and then all your tractors could be bought at wholesale.

Personally I fail to see why dealers get so upset about guys trying to get a good deal or save money. If you yourself go out shopping you probably look for the best deal. I'm sure when you buy a new car you don't just go in and pay sticker price for the vehicle. Or like some dealers do tack on an extra price above the sticker price. The dealership in our town starts out at list price. Then they add shipping on top of that. Then they add a setup fee on top of that. I'm all for you guys making your money. But why do you guys get so bent out of shape when guys try and save some money? All you have to do is say no this is the deal. If I find it cheaper down the road or even in another state why should that offend you? Isn't that what free enterprise and capitalism are all about?
