I am considering a MMM for my 4110 and have a couple of questions: (1) How hard is it to take a MMM on and off the 4110 and (2) Does having the MMM attached prevent you from using your 3 pt with other attachment, say a box blade. (3) any suggestions on the 54" or 60" I have about 3 acres to mow, fairly level with scattered trees. Thanks for any help

Howard,

I believe the 4010 and the 4110 are configured the same so I will answer your question based on my personal experience.

1. Installing/Removing the deck is a 10 minute job max. Like anything else, there's a learning curve, but JD has really done a good job in this category.

2. You need the latch kit to keep the mower up so you can use the 3 pt for other implements. I've heard cost range of between $75 and $90.

3. I have the 54 inch. The 60 inch is heavier and has wheels that rotate when you are turning. My brother runs two JD 425's. One has the 54 and the other the 60. He prefers the 60. I cannot comment on which provides a better cut, but with the rotating wheels, the 60 (in theory) should have a much lower chance of ripping up grass.

FWIW I am very happy with the 54, but you are mowing about an acre more than me. Sounds like the 60 may be a good fit.

Good Luck

Bob

Bob,
Thanks for the reply. 10 mins is not too bad to take on and off. That's what the dealer told me, but then he is just sending it back to the shop for the guys to do.. I'm probably gonna go with the 54" only because it's $600 more for the 60" and it's not worth $100 and inch to me.

thanks again

Just wanted to add that 10 minutes is if your are doing this on a level concrete surface. Otherwise, it's not a fun job. I also want to second the utility of the lift latch kit. Very handy. I also have the 54" deck. I loked the 60" deck better and it's easier to trim around things, but like you cost made my decision. I have the mulching attachment for my deck. This is a nice low-cost option. Using the mulching attachment, I never have any clippings to rake.

Jim,

Good point regarding a flat surface. My pole barn has a concrete floor so once you spin the guide wheels around, it rolls (on two wheels) and slides (on the other two wheels) easily. My guess is that if I was doing this on the gravel dirveway, it would not work as smoothly.
