I think I'm getting closer (see Is it extravagant? in general buying) to buying a tractor.

After the info I received on the 4010, my new first choice is the 4110. I want to be sure I get everything I should when (if?) I order it. Here is what I know I want

4110 Hydro
Dual SCV
R4 tires
410 Loader
60" deck
mulching kit for deck
Folding ROPS

Now, I'm not sure of a couple of options:

When do I want extra hydraulic outlets? Someday I'd like to have a hyd top link & maybe a three point log splitter. Are the outlets dealer installed option or factory? Will it cost me significantly more to add it later? ($250 each on deere's price config)

I'm leaning towards a ballast box vs. loaded tires. My reasoning is that I'd like to keep the tractor light for mowing. The flip side is, will I want loaded tires if I plan to use a rear blade for snow removal? According to the chart listed in DIY tire filling, I'll only get 100# (maybe more, the R4 size wasn't listed only R1) in each tire. Probably have to hitch up something on the 3point as well to properly balance tractor. I'd probably do the filling myself (I have a sump pump for my pool cover that should move the "safe" antifreeze nicely)

Speaking of the rear blade, should I get that at the same time? Or wait untill winter? If I go with the filled tires ILO ballast box, I'd probably get the blade for the counterweight.

Am I missing anything?

I see by your profile that you have 4 acres. Are you going to be doing any bush hogging? You didn't mention a rotary cutter.

I know when I finally order my tractor, I'll get the extra light kits, both front and rear, included.

I guess in my own mind, I've decided to get everything I possibly will ever use included when I order the tractor for a couple of reasons. One, sure as heck if I don't have something I'll find out that I need it, and I don't have a lot of patience to wait around for things. Two, it always seems to cost a whole lot more to have something added later than at the time of purchase, regardless of what the salesman tells you. And three, the "extras" will add nicely to the resale or trade in value if you ever decide to sell the machine or trade up.

Golfgar4,

No plans for a rotary cutter. The remaining acreage is either forest (1.5 acre) or wetland (.5 acre). The trees are too close to get a tractor around to brush hog. I have a 2cycle brush cutter / string trimmer that I can use for now. It actually works better than I expected.

Thanks for the tip on the lights. I hadn't even thought about that, but I bet I would have when plowing snow next winter in the dark.

Hazmat ,

I just purchased pretty much the same configuration as the one your looking at. I have a JD4110 with R4's and Folding ROPS, 410 Loader, 61" Bucket, 60" Mid-Mount. I did not order the Mulch kit, because I had it installed on my JD425 with 54" deck and did not like the clogging that would accure with slightly wet grass. I can tell you that this combination seems to be very strong in terms of performance. I am in the process of adding more lights and rear tire ballast. I also purchased a quick hitch identical to the JD i-Match setup from TSC for $165.00 plus tax, slapped some JD green paint on it and am very pleased with this setup. I will post a pic of the tractor and loader and also the quick hitch.

If you plan on using hydraulics off the rear of the tractor I would suggest having them installed when you order the tracotr, its lot cheaper than adding later as your dealer can tell you......unless you do the work yourself.....Good luck

The rear hydraulic outlet option is a dealer field installed option only.

i have the 4100 w/ r4 tires [filled] and the 60" deck.
there is no problem with the filled tires when i am mowing.

then again, i don't mow a swamp ;)

if you have the loader - get the filled tires.
they add a huge amount of stability - not just from the ballast box standpoint - but from the sideways standpoint too.
