Hi All,
Been reading all these threads for hours on end... and i love this site!:)
I recently purchased a JD 4115 with r4 tires, 200x fel and 62d mmm. I am looking to buy a box blade for it. I was pretty sure a 60" would be right for this tractor from all the threads I read.... til I ran across one thread that the 4 or 5 people in the discussion all where talking that a 48" box blade would be too taxing on a tractor my size. so, tho I have learned alot from reading these threads, reading this one has pretty much put me back on square one.
What would really help me here is people with a 4115 [or comparable] telling me of their experiences with their box blades. What size and brands they like... hinged or fixed....etc.
The soil type here is some clay, a few stones, and some of that really nice black dirt that makes for a great garden. [sorry, I'm not a Farmer, so I don't know what all the soils are called] Any help would be greatly appreciated.

60" will be perfect for that machine - 48" might not cover the rear tire tracks but it wont labor the machine either

I have a 2520 and it pulls a 60" fine. 4115 specs are almost the same.

I would buy the a heavy box blade ,because the weight is what makes it cut.I have a 60" box on 3720 with r4 bars and it covers the tracks, but on a uphill grade pulling a full box I can lose traction, buy a low-back box for your tractor.I like a fixed box over a hinged box becasue you can ride on the back edge for finsh grading. I like bush hog brand and woods

I have a Landpride 54" for my 2520 and it works perfecto. There's plenty of power to handle the 60" but like another poster stated... you'll run out of traction before power. Even my 54" will bring my 2520 to a hault if it gets to full of dirt.... but it's gotta be pretty full. The 54" is just enough to cover my 2520's tracks too. I think it's a perfect fit for the tractor... but I'm sure I'd be happy with the 60" too. No need IMO to go smaller than the 54". You WANT something that covers the tire tracks... Good luck... :)

I want to thank you all for replying to my post. I now feel confident in the purchase of a 54'' or 60'' box blade. One thing i have noticed, used box blades are far and few in between. I guess once you got one, ya don't get rid of it!:)
Thanks again for all your help.
