Well, I guess it turned out to be a mute point (the wife said to quit talking about it!). She authorized the 4310 with the 420 loader, 5' shredder and 5' box blade. I appreciate the input, though. I guess I'm just going to have to spend more time on the tractor, hauling a little less each time /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif. She did also authorize a new trailer, so picked it up today. The tractor is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I didn't want to mess with hauling it right off the bat. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to make the tractor blend in with the shed in the back yard (maybe paint the shed JD green?). I guess I could have worse problems. Thanks again one and all.

I have a 4310 and a 420 and it works great as far as lifting what can fit in the 61" bucket. I do believe there is a leak down problem I think with the 420 and 430. Looking at the specs the loaders are very similar except the breakout force. If you need the extra heigth that could be a consideration. I loaded a 20 yd dumpster with no problem until it got full and heaping. I've loaded gravel, dirt, windsor blocks, mixed several full buckets of concrete, and had no problems. The 420 is not for use with big round bails, nor the 4n1 bucket.

Thanks for the input. Turns out my wife would only authorize the 420 anyway. The 4310 with 420 loader, 5' cutter and 5.5' box blade was delivered yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, I was sad to see some damage on the loader. The person delivering it had hooked a chain to the box blade and attached this to the loader, over the bucket and down to the round part across the bottom area of the bucket. I noticed the metal hydraulic lines that run across the crossmember of the loader appeared to have been bent and dented. Appearently, he had initially wrapped the chain around this crossmember, until he realized he damaged the lines. Of course when I pointed it out to him, he said they were fine like that, since they didn't leak. The decals on both sides of the loader were scratched to the point they couldn't be read. Also, two of the four plugs used to cap the hydraulic couplers when the loader is removed were broken loose and dangling. He told me to "just get some colored tape, so you don't get the lines hooked up wrong". He was telling me I should check the wheel bolts after about fifty hours. I told him I read in the manual they should be checked after the first hour and every four hours thereafter until they don't work loose. He told me I shouldn't have to worry about that. "I put them on with an impact wrench and got them as tight as I could". Now I'm scared. My wife, who bought this for me for my birthday, called the dealer and insisted on a new loader. So, I will be getting another new loader. I know this is a tractor but this goes way beyond having a few scratches. Time will tell if they take care of this correctly.

Whew! I do believe I would be talking to someone In Charge at the Dealership. What else are you "not to worry yourself" about? Whatever happened to torque specs, and proper handling? That really seems like a rocky start… I realize that some scratches due to demo usage and testing are to be expected, but abuse by the servicing dealer? I think I would be at the dealership with some photos of the damage in hand and see if there isn’t a good fix.

I hope it works out for you!

Well, they are going to replace the loader, but it will be done by the same guy who did the work the first time. The loader is fully functional, but probably not for the long term. So instead of having that "I can't wait to get it to the land to play", it's "Well, I'll get this fixed and hope nothing else is wrong". I'll post pictures later tonight.
