4300 to 4310 How much should I pay?

What does he want for the 4310 outright? Or does he need your 4300 to be part of the deal to make everything work??

He has a buyer for my tractor, and he needs me to take the new one.
I know it's 4K, but if I'm not losing anything in the long run, I'll take it.
I would probably trade up to a 3520 next year anyway, but if I buy this one, I'll keep it for three more seasons.

My yard is huge. I finish mow over 6 acres, and that number is going to climb to 9 here shortly.
Lots of hours in a short time.

George, two questions for you. 1. Do you run R4 or turf tires? If R4 how does the turf hold up? 2. Does the weight of the tractor leave any ruts or is it pretty easy on the ground? I am trying to decide if I should go with a 4310/3120 or if I should stick with a 4010/4110 due to the weight.

If I were you, I would stick with your 4300. Especially if you are going to trade it in, within a year or two for a 3XXX. No point in taking it in the shorts twice...

Normally, it would make NO sense to trade for this 4310. You would be ahead to trade for a 3520, or 3720.

But, if helping your buddy today, puts him in a position to take care of you on the next move, it can be win-win.

You will certainly enjoy the 4310. But don't look for a huge (any?) increase in productivity going to it...

Yes, I run turf tires.
The only time I have to be careful is in the early spring.
Having said that, the 4300 isn't any worse on wet turf than my old 445 lawn tractor.
Don't be afraid of it at all.

I'm not expecting to increase productivity. I basically use this tractor to mow my lawn, so with a 72" cut, I can only go so fast before I fall off. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I still got to think I'm not going to lose any money by buying this.
When I do buy the 3570 in three years, I gotta think this 2005 4310 will bring me an extra 4K over and above a 2001 4300 with almost 400 hours more on the clock. I also have to add that this deal includes a 72" 7 iron deck.
I'm not too experienced in JD trade in numbers, so tell me if you think my calculations are wrong /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

IHMO , it certainly sounds like a fair deal.

with the increased mowing, have you thought about
going with a larger mowing deck? that tractor will certainly handle an 84" 3ph mower, or could pull a small batwing
finish mower also. any thought about that?

I have lots of trees Dutch.

I have thought about that, but I think I would have to move up to an even larger tractor to power all of that equipment. In thick grass, I sometimes get bogged down and have to lift a little to keep RPMs up..
I like this size tractor because it's the perfect size to cut and maneuver around objects..

if you end up with the 4310, I think you will love the
"load match". especially when you encounter the thick
heavy grass,,, the tractor should automatically adjust to
keep your RPM's there. Great application for that
feature of the 10 series!
