L4310 HST
Morning everyone. I have a 2002 4310HST and the a/c leaves a lot to be desired. It goes from just a bit cooler than the outside temp to warm very quickly. I find myself operating with the doors open or getting out of the cab to cool off!

I saw on a previous thread (2003 I believe) that someone put a rubber shroud to direct more air into the condensor. I was just wondering if anyone else tried this and if it works. Does anyone else have experiences with this problem and any solutions they are willing to share?

My refrigerant is good and nothing is leaking. I'm thinking is woefully underpowered or designed poorly (or both).

Thanks for the help.

I have not yet tried the shroud on my 2003 L5030 as it works fairly well now. I had my 5030 in the shop doing a 1200 hour service and got side tracked (forgot), so it may be the fall before I do it as I have a lot of hogging to do and more equipment on which to do maintenance.

When I bought mine used, the AC was a bit weak, so the dealer checked it out and found the evaporator was full of junk. After a thorough cleaning and topping off the refrigerant, it cools quite well if I keep the RPMs up.

I exchanged PMs with TEXASJOHN who also has a L5030 and his AC works fine.

Someone posted this link on one of the related threads: Troubleshoot Automotive Air Conditioning Problems

That doesn't sound like a simple airflow direction issue, but more of a system going bad. Any car AC tech should be able to check out pressures and performance. It's not hard to do yourself if you have AC gages and good mechanical sense plus some references. There are lots of good AC forums and info on the web.

Thanks for the response guys. The more I research this, the more I'm reading that the A/C on this size Kubota is barely adequate under the best of conditions. Essentially it'll keep you somewhat comfortable IF the freon is completely full and your radiator and condensor is clean and it's not 100 degrees (which hasn't been very ofter this summer!). I clean both of these religiously but it doesn't last very long once the engine heats up and I get a little bit of debris in the radiator and condensor.

Has anyone else had these experiences??

Friends grandfather has same model. We found just keeping screen clean wasn't enough. Use a coil cleaner periodically to really get it clean. It helps

EVAC the system, removed the condensor, clean the condensor, clean the radiator behind the condensor, re-install the condensor and re-charge the system. I would be anything that this would greatly increase the cooling on your a/c.

As per YesDeere, keeping the screens clean is not all you need to do, we are on our third tractor of two different brands and clean the fins on the radiator, condenser etc., as well.

Have you pulled the top to check the evaporator?

You may need someone to look at it, I did.

My neighbor has an L5030. His isn't cooling at all. He has it in the shop and they told him that the compressor is bad. Anybody got any ideas where to get a compressor that doesn't cost $750.00. We about fainted when told the cost. I've looke online and that's about what I am finding.

Firefighter. Check four seasons for one to match up. Any parts house should be able to cross if it's available.

Check all electrical connections well. Last summer the a/c quit on my M8200DTC and it turned out to be a loose electrical connection to a sensor or switch in the roof compartment. Put a new spade on the wire and it's been fine since. The compressor was not engaging reliably. Wiggled all the wires under the hood first and then removed the roof and did the same to find the culprit. Wiggling the wire would make the compressor engage/disengage. This was after doing all the tests with gauges.

BTW, the a/c and heat in this tractor is better than that in any other tractor, truck or car I've owned.
