Looks like this unit was pretty fresh so anything with injectors should be updated.

The Svc mgr that I talked to said it sounds like you need a new dealer as a situation like this requires the dealer to step up and take care of things. The dealer should replace the unit and fix it on his own time or battle it with Deere. They could always sell as a demo or use as a rental.

By the time they get yours figured out you'll be out of warranty. Sounds like you may want to escalate this with an attorney...

Well put KennedyDiesel, definitely time for an attorney.

Be sure to post what the fix was if they ever fix it. I'm sure you'll post if you get a replacement tractor. I'm very curious to know what the problem is though. I just can't believe that a trained and experienced group of (or a single) mechanic at that dealer can't figure it out within 4 weeks. They've either sat on it and did nothing for much of that time or they're incompetent and you of course are the one that pays the price for that incompetence. I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but they've had ample time to troubleshoot and find a resolution. Our town has a couple investigative reporters that do stories for the local news (TV) stations. I'd see if your area has that. Let's see if they like lots of publicity. Maybe that (or an attorney) would motivate them to get it fixed or give you a replacement. I can see John Deere might be in a bad spot on this as well though. If it's the dealer's fault because they're lame, then Deere gets screwed in this deal too. They've got a ticked off customer and they might have to end up taking back a tractor that could be otherwise easily fixed (given the proper resources - I.E. mechanics that know how to isolate the problem).

If you like,PM me and I can give you an email address that will go to John Deere at Augusta Georgia.

Well after a month and 2 days The JD dealer calls me and says come test drive your tractor. So I went there today and test drove it and it was like driving a totally different tractor. It had more power than I had expected. I think they swapped the computer from the 4720 but don't know that as a fact. But it starts up and only the normal black smoke for about 15 seconds and then clears itself out. They said they found the injectors timed wrong and the rack that controls fuel was assembled incorrectly and was also adjusted wrong. My driveway is at a 15 percent grade at start and goes to 18 percent. Before it would not climb it in B" range let alone C" range without cutting out.Well it climbs it in C" now without much effort. In B" range it would loose at least 700 + RPM before it would bog and cut out now the tach doesn't move. It also would max out at 2400 RPM full throttle , Now it goes to 2800 RPM. I really thought that these tractors were real wimps ( Because the dealer before when dynoing the engine said it has more power than JD says it should but wouldn't even climb my drive way let alone do loader work) But I must say this thing is an ANIMAL!!! now that its running correctly. While they were working on the tractor they damaged a few panels that the mechanic said they were that way when he got the tractor, NOT! The owner knows me very well ( Doesn't mean he likes me ,LOL) But he came out and personally removed the damaged panels and installed new ones from a new tractor that just was delivered yesterday. All in All I'm EXTREAMLY disapointed with John Deere and how they handled the hole thing ,THey treated my if it were my problem not theirs, And a little disapointed with the dealer as well . But I'm impressed with the new found horse power this tractor has. The dyno test before showed 45 HP PTO when it wasn't running right according to JD it should have only been 43 for a short peak before dropping off to 41 for the hour test. I couldn't even guess what it is now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for all of your help and support. I don't think I could have done it with out your help and ears to listen.

Man!...glad they finally got you fixed up. It sure took long enough. I know these tractors are great machines (when running properly). I run out of traction long before I run out of power! Have fun.

So, "It's Alive!"
Now one question remains,
What was the compensation ffrom the dealer and or John Deere?
I would be expecting to get compensated for my loss of use especially when it impacts my business, thats money and money equals lawyers.

Good luck
