Dave,

I am also curious to know what you decided to get. I am currently looking at some of the same tractors you were considering (990, 4310 & 4320). So, if you have made a decision, I’d like to know your reasons for selecting one model over the other.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks to everyone for giving me the advice and knowledge I needed to make me feel like I am making an educated decision.

The dealer brought in my tractor from John Deere in Georgia already but I probably won't be able to see it until Friday. He didn't even require a deposit.

If I didn't listen to some of you please do not feel insulted. Everyone had something to do with my final decision. I did listen to everyones advice and in the end I was the one who had to make the choice.

Anyone care to guess which model I am getting? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ok, you guys pretty much stink at guessing games. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I finally did it! My wife and I drove to the dealer Monday and I signed my life away on a brand spanking new (well 1.4 hours) JD 4320! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's what I bought:

JD4320, eHydro, 4wd, load match, motion match, speed match, automotive cruise control, and R4 tires.

400X Front End Loader with the heavy duty bucket and two chain hooks welded on the top of the top blade.

MX6 Medium Duty Rotary Cutter

They need to install the bucket hooks and some of the additional controls but I may get it Thursday! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The reason for my choice:

For a few grand more I could be safe with my decision of having enough power. I looked at it backwards. I looked at many, many implements before deciding and it seems that 40hp PTO can run a lot of the smaller AND bigger implements that I would possibly need. I looked at Land Pride, Woods, Rhino, Bush Hog, King Kutter, John Deere, Befco, etc. ... I wanted versatility. I also really wanted to pull a 6' cutter without straining. For the future I wanted to have the ability to cut a few neighbors pastures (for money of course /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) without worrying about destroying my equipment.

Torque...torque is the usuable result of hp. Torque at rated speed and maximum torque per machine is as follows:

Figures are in foot pounds
4410 64.8 rated
990 74.8 rated 93.5 max.
4120 91 rated 109 max.
4710 86 rated 108 max.
4320 102 rated 127 max.

You guys can figure out the percentages but I figured that the 4320 has 15-16% more torque then the 4710.

The 4410 was borderline. 28hp PTO worried me a little. The 990 was a gear tractor that I alone would end up running. The 4120 had about the same hp as the 990 but weighs 525 lbs. more. The 4320 had it all (for me), good PTO power, the best torque out of the ones I was looking at, newer technology, the price the dealer gave me, ergonomics, and it just happens to be GREEN!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I picked the MX6 from good reviews on this forum and the blade tip speed. Compare blade tip speeds and you will see.

I bought the HD bucket for toughness and versatility. I have no trees so a 4 in 1 (although very cool looking) was not necessary. I had hooks added for larger object control during lifting or dragging. I did not get a tooth bar because until I get a box blade I will be using my loader bucket edge for grading small areas.

I will know more once it gets here. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
