4410 power issues

Hi all! I have a 4410 that I have had for approximately 2 years. The first 6 months were great, then it blew a backhoe hydraulic hose and it has been down hill after that. It just doesn't have the bucket or hoe power it used to. I have had it in for numerous leaks and the power issue since then to no avail. It wines like a stuck pig most of the time. The dealer tells me that the pressure readings are in order.

I just had 120 tons of #1 stone delivered and it is almost impossible to get a full bucket. I drive in to the pile and the bucket just won't lift it up. I've had to come up with all kinds of tricks just to get a full load. I can't believe that a bucket of stone exceeds the 1900 lifting ability.

Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated!

Does the hyraulic fluid get hot quickly? Is the blown line associated with the SCV for the FEL? Is the third SCV centered ( it is in the SCV block on the 4600, the valve is there even if you don't have the control lever). If one of the valves in the SCV block is not centered or lost an internal seal ( not likely) you could be sitting on the relief ( whining noise) and it lack power and flow for other things. Not an expert by any means-limited knowledge, just what I thought it could be. The JD mechanics should have been able to pick up on this, open center hydraulics are pretty easy.

I have a 2 year old 4410 (210 hours) as well and this post rang a bell. I had my dealer stop sometime during the 1st year to test the pressure readings as I was concerned about the pump. They found the readings were in order as well. I was complaining about a lack of FEL lifting ability that didn't seem to exist when the 4410 was new. The hoe seemed weaker but I wasn't sure.

I did adjust a rod in the back related to the lifting height of 3pt to get the hoe up and in place. It would not lift the hoe high enough to get the pins in. If you adjust too high the 3pt goes into relief. Dealer was wondering if I was using the FEL without the hoe and some 3pt attachment. They thought I might have the 3pt attachment raised too high causing it to go into relief. I did have a box blade on at the time I had issues. I did lower it a bit but it seemed the same.

Wondering if it isn't some relief issue. Fluid and filters have always been changed. I didn't pursue the matter as the pressure test was good and I might have adjusted to it as time has passed.

Thanks for the observations! In hindsight, it does seem that part of the power issues occurred after they installed the 4th & 5th scv, which was the same time that they fixed the busted hydraulic hose, hmmm.

The dealer was originally going to pick up my tractor today and called to delay since his techs are in training. We'll see where it goes from here?

If you come up with anything post back here. Would be interested in hearing. I don't have the 4th and 5th scv. How long is your unit still under warranty? Mine ran out in August.

My warranty is up on 10/30/05, in other words, 5 days. I called John Deere Direct and they said not to worry about it. Which means that I should worry about it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Wondering if your dealer has looked at your 4410 as yet and come up with any ideas?

It has been 2 weeks and the dealer has not yet picked up the tractor. They are "supposedly" going to get it this monday.

I went to use the tractor yesterday and once again the hydraulic fluid vial is showing almost empty. I have gone through 2 gals of JD hydraulic fluid in the last 2 weeks (not cheap) with no visible puddles on the ground.

For the most part is seems that most people I speak with equate hydraulic pressure to performance, and if the pressure is correct than the performance is appropriate. I am trying to figure out why the pressure may be on the mark while the performance is not?

I'll write back once I have heard from the dealer.

hi, i was looking through posts, trying to figure out my 4710's hydraulic problem and saw your post. I have had the exact same problem - 6 months of great performance, break a hose, no more lift capacity. Did you ever find the problem? Thanks.

I have a 4410 as well, and was wondering if they can pick up a round bale with a spike attached to the bucket. I believe the smaller round bales weigh approx. 800 lbs.?
