Thanks for the information. I took a better look at the tire/wheels last night and it does look like they can be reversed and get a wider track. I'll be ordering a service manual ASAP and it will be the factory manual. I'll be changing some of the fluids this weekend. In the hydro down here in North Carolina where the tempetures range from about 20 to 100 degree's which fluid should I be using? The manual (thanks for the link Roy) says low-vis is preferred but then gives you a chart to not use it over 80 degrees says Hy-gard can be used.

Checked the fuses last night, all good, I'll wait for the service manual to fix the lights.

Oh yeah, now that I've got this thing home, I don't think there is anything 'compact' about this tractor, it is a beast for 2 acres. Makes that $2500 off a 2520 deal something to think about.

"Compact" is, of course, a relative term...

I went from a compact (Deere 670) to a little bigger (790...I wanted a bit more PTO HP for a chipper) to a little bigger (4400 because I wanted that reverser transmission). This is for 2.5 acres.
Overall, the 790 was probably the best fit as far as size and HP, but I did get a great deal on the 4400.
I also got a 7' RFM when I bought the 4400 (came with the tractor). That's a heck of a lawn mower for an acre of lawn, now isn't it? (rest of the property is wooded). Nice mower (a Befco), but it's really a bit big.

So, enjoy your 4410. BTW, when you order your service manual, you may as well get the Operator's Manual too. The loader manual wouldn't hurt either.

I would check the owners manual before setting the front wheels wider. My tractor has 12 position adjustment for the front wheels and give a max not exceed with a FEL.

Not much adjustment on the compact Deere MFWD tractors. All you can do is swap side to side or reverse the wheels.
Bigger 2WD Deeres do have a provision to increase the track.

I think the rears are already in the wide position if they have one but since you mentioned it Roy I was looking at the pictures and it looks like the fronts can be swapped for a wider track, am I correct?

I can't be sure from the pix, but the rear wheels' wider position is with the
valves inboard. If they use the same R4s as my 4300s have, the wider
position in the rear will gain you 3/4" overall width. For the fronts, don't
bother as your front axle pivots anyway.

Rental companies often have multiple units of the same tractor, so it is
possible that the rear wheels got swapped for those of another machine at
the rental yard. Often wheels are off more than one tractor at a time,
resulting in your mixup. (Ask me how I know.)

Hopefully your unit does not have bowed loader curl cylinder rods and a
loose loader mount.

Got it cleaned up some today and some of the servicing. I think I got a pretty good deal. Nothing much wrong with it, resonably low hour, and the loader is mounted securely. When I took the side cover off to get to the engine oil filter I got a since of how this been used and service lately, the filter was marked as being installed at 800 hour (there is 950 on it now) and that was 4 years ago so it has not been seeing much in the way of regular use for some time. The air filter was very dirty so I replaced it today. Should be draining the transmission in the morning and the front axle as well as cleaning the suction side screen in the transmission.

Congratulations on the 4410! It sounds like it is going to be a really good tractor for you. Is the Tach. meter working in the picture or is the tractor off? With your light i think it may be a corroded wire from sitting outside and seeing some use in abusive locations. Glad to see it has an owner who will take good care of it and make sure it lasts a long long time. :thumbsup:

The tractor was turned off when the pictures were taken. I haven't found anything that looks like it could be causing the problem with the lights but I haven't really gotten to any of the wiring. I suspect the fuse panel comes out and that the problem is behind there. I figure getting fresh fluids, filters etc. comes first.
