Tractor
JD_4x2_Gator, JD_4300, JD_425, JD_455 AWS, added JD_455, JD_110, JD_X485(sold)
The JD 445 will not snap into the detent and stay in float. Pops right out when using the front blade.
Any ideas what the problem would be? tks.

sounds like you got crud on your balls.

there have been some threads on this, spring loaded detent balls sometimes
get gummed up and they don't hold while in float. sometimes you can take off
the cap on the scv and clean it all out good, and re assemble with success..
if i remember right a little tug on the spring to lengthen it might also help.

Good one, and thanks for the tip too.

Will give that a try, and see if it works. The fluid and filter have been changed, but this float valve only gets used during the winter with the plow so may be a collection point for any small bit of debris.

they sell the guts for that kit, but sometimes you can get by
without buying them.
good luck

Thanks, as that looks real simple and straight forward to do. I was thinking I would have to pull out the spool.
Will give it a shot when I get to where that tractor is at.
