45-50hp Help

Ima disagree. Taking a tractor to the “many” times in the first year would lead me to believe you got yerself a lemon. Step daddy buys new tractors like cars. And he’s only had one that he’s had to take dealer 4 times in first year. And it’s a new Holland. The bota kioti and jd none at all. My kioti is 3 years old and been to dealer once.
All I know is I bought my Kioti new 20 years ago and it's never been back to the dealer

I have owned one second hand Deere and two new Kubotas.

My tractor goes to the Kubota dealer six miles distant for everything but fueling and greasing.

At age 74 I am not interested in practicing mechanic's skills.

A quality dealer, reasonably close, available for coaching, is important for tractor neophytes. Most new tractors are delivered with a glitch or two requiring correction. My Kubota dealer is six miles away. I feel my local dealer continues to add value to my equipment after eight years. Dealer proximity is less important for those experienced with tractors and qualified to perform their own maintenance.

With a tractor -- Oh Dear... you will have need for the dealer to do SOMETHING on that new tractor many times in the first year (and if you don't live right on top of the tractor using it often it will be for more than the first year.) I consider the dealer and your relationship with him extremely important.
Certainly has not been my experience with my Kioti. Dealer not near but has been very helpful answering questions and have xlnt relationship..

First post.
I have an MX5200 and am pleased with it. Both Kubota dealers are at least 45 min. away. For $150.00 one will come to you. Price has most likely gone up a bit.
The MX series is now just the 5400 and 6000. Both are the same size, just different motors. They are great sized tractors.

I've had my Kioti for 8 years and my Mahindra 10 years before that and neither one ever made a trip back to the dealer for anything. Both have been excellent machines.

Back to the OP: I had a JD 4700 for 10 years (bought new.) I will say that it was great in terms of infant mortality compared to the MF2660 I replaced it with. Very little trouble with that Deere (though enough I was really glad I was only 24 miles from the dealer.) That dealer wa forced out of business by Deere as has the onbe here in So MD. Same thing -- country family owned dealer told to pack it up. Not big enough.

Back to the tractor: The JD4700 was a 48 engine HP tractor with the 4cylinder Yanmar diesel. In the context of the OP's original query it would be an outstanding tractor for his situation. Super reliable, plenty of capacity for a heavy pinch bucket loader bucket, 6ft hog, etc. AND you can get the rear wheels far enough apart for it to be VERY stable on steeper slopes than most people dare operate on.

I recommend he find a good used machine similar to the Deere 4700. And the power reverser is a great configuration, better to me than an HST.

Looking at 45-50 hp tractor to manage 10 acres of mixed wooded/mowing property. Primarily interested in Loader and grapple work. Only dealers close are Kioti, New Holland, JD, and a Massey rep. Like Kubota but nearest rep is 45-minute drive. Not looking for top of line models, but one with hst. Thoughts?
I bought a JD 3046R two years ago. No regrets. I have 17 acres of heavy woods. Have turned about 3 into mowable yard and orchard.. A lot of grapple & loader work.

I think LS still makes the boomers for NH. My xr4150 has hasn't given any problems other than slightly weak loader. No issues that needed dealer since I bought in 2017
