I have put 5 hours on the 4520 cab and overall I have to say it rocks. I replaced a 2005 open station 4720 with this new tractor. Here are some notes.

Likes:
It is a cab - John Deere sure makes nice cabs.
4WD control on the dash instead of having my left leg turning it off.
Air seat - rocks.
Has plenty of power
No more junk fuel tank lid
Vented battery (no more corrosion hopefully)
No more hot floor - my 4720 should would warm your feet.

Dislikes:
Miss the toolbox with a lid.
SMV - blocks the view of the rear implement from the seat
Rockshaft control is very stiff.
Throttle needs some more friction on it.
Work lights are marginal - need more time to adjust.
No right cab handle - I really liked the handles on the 4720 on both sides
No inside handle on RH door - emergency only. Sucks if you open it to talk to somebody...
Windshield washer on the front wiper only sprays half the windshield
No mounting spots in the cab like on the 5525 (pre-threaded, etc).

Compared to my 5525 cab:
I will be getting a price on an air ride seat for my 5525 for sure.
Smaller size is nice for some projects
E-hydro trans rocks
I wish there was room for a buddy seat in the 4520

I am sure I missed something,
D.

I seen, and felt the same about my change from the open station 3720 to cab 3720. I could not get used to the throttle in the cab. On the os, I used to have to smack the throttle forward it was so stiff, In the beginning, found myself trying to get to 1500 rpm's in the cab, so i would smack the throttle and end up at WOT. It took a bit and I like it now.

My work lights are great. The only thing I need is lights that go dorectly to the side. That would help with spotting deer.

Congrats again on the new tractor!

The throttle control on my 3520 Cab seems "Too Stiff"...actually hope it breaks in and loosens up a little....I'd imagine its adjustable to a certian degree....

I am sure it is adjustable. I figure I will run it a while and then have the dealer tweak some stuff on it.

You can adjust the windshield squirters. Take a small screw driver and adjust the nozzles where the fluid comes out. They are little balls that can rotate in any direction. Mine was the same way.

Does your new 4520 have a good strong A/C system -- say compared to your other tractor(s), car and/or truck ?

Good luck with your new tractor.

Double congrats and I hope you have even more fun in the future.

I am going to check that out today.

It is stronger than my Dodge Ram 3500 for sure. It is on par with my 5525 AC unit.

Wonderful news. As you may be aware, a number of 3720 cab tractors have had AC issues, mine included, caused mostly by damaged and/or missing isolators in the roof around the AC system.

Yeah, I guess I got lucky.

Say - do I have to take the roof off to work on the stereo? I want to add an IPOD cable.

Yes you do.

Be prepared to do a little patching of some of the seals. Just in case.

   / 4520 Cab - First Impressions #13
Just buy an extra seal before you start. Just replaced mine yesterday after the patched areas failed. I could feel air blowing out around the corners and the front. The seal was $20 from the dealer who picked up the tab as the tractor is still under warranty. It almost seems as if the seal shrinks with age because there were more gaps in it than the last time I took it off. I made sure not to stretch it at all thinking maybe they stretched the original seal too much at the factory.

I use my iPod all the time in my tractor. I use the cigarette lighter charger for my iPod, but it has the broadcaster built into the charger cord. I set the display on my cord to an unused radio station number (say for example 87.9FM) then I turn my radio on 87.9FM and it seems to work perfect for me.... I really like it a lot.

I figure I will have them put the cord in. I hear a rattle up there, I don't think they secured the radio cords.

Too many radio stations around here - I have tried every model of the modulators. Also, I want to use the cool features built into the radio for ipod controls, etc.

As soon as you gett he tractor back, check the heater/AC controls. They are all cable operated and held in place by a putty. They can get bound up easily. My dealer warned me about them when i put the radio in. They were right, one of them moved and might have caused a problem if i was not looking for it with the top off.

Good advice - Thanks, D.

Radios? ipods? Wow, how much aural stimulation is really needed. Heck half the time i forget the cell phone just to get out and leave some of it behind! I found that there was more than enough stimulation watching the bull jump the fence (again).
DD: how does your 4520 compare to the 4720 in the power department since i would venture to say that all else is the same except for the size of the supercharger?

Well, I plug my iphone into the radio so when it rings I don't miss it. I can do business and get my ranching done at the same time.

I can't tell any difference in the power. I am not pushing the limits of it, exactly why I decided to go with the 4520 and save $2000.
