4520n equipment drive belt.

Just some information for you all. The drive belt on my 4520N started smoking profusly and stopped working my tough cut. I checked everything on the mower and it was all free wheeling. It turned out that a single strand of the Kevlar belt was loose and wrapped around the pully shaft! That stuff must be tough because it stopped everything! Anyway, new belt and all is well.

Was it the drive belt from the engine to the PTO drive pulley that failed? Or the drive belt that is part of the tough cut mower and is put on the PTO drive pulley once the mower is mounted on the tractor?

Your 4520N is a lot newer than the Ventracs that most of us own. Can you estimate the number of operating hours on the drive belt (maybe as a percentage of the machine operating hours)?

Did anything unusual happen to the belt that might account for its failure?
