4x4 went out when put on rear dif lock

I finally found that the piece will come out but it is sealed to the frame. Where the two bolts attach to the frame, it is cemented in place by heat, paint, dirt, rust. So i need to break it free. But it will not take hammering or pole with sledge to come free. It is locked. I can only think of three things, use a cutting blade to cut between the two peicesed in places that I can get into, Use a concrete air hammer with blade and cut it apart, or drop the front axel and use its weight to separate them. I have heated it with a sauder torch.

I pulled her into the garage to get a closer look at her. Figured it would take some time. But once I got her into a warm place and I lifter her up. She gave it up like a prom date.

I got the bolts out and pulled the shaft out. I was getting mad the shaft was find. No damage at all. But then I turned the big gear and noticed that 184.31.187 Diff side gear was missing at least one tooth missing. Is this my problem? Or could there be more of a reason?

Could be, but equally important is where the missing tooth/teeth have gone. They pose potential interference problems all by themselves. Next step would seem to be removing the pumpkin cover. If I'm not mistaken, that involves dropping the whole front drive assembly to the ground.

I have already drained the axel. And will put the part. But could only missing one tooth really stop the whole axel? I have a MF and it had 60 years of damage to the drive shaft and will still run.

Yes - that missing tooth just has to get between two gears and the whole thing seizes up.

Got it, It becomes a wedge in the system. Thanks for the understanding. I forget that there are more parts, unlike the older tractors more room and larger parts.

I have the axle apart and found metal shards. I took off the right axle and got the sprocket loose. but not sure how to get the gear out?

I got the axle to come off and found that the shaft had snapped. The other side did not come apart after I took off the bolts. I'm not sure if I need too. I can get at the pieces but not sure If I need to take the other axle arm off. I will take some pictures.
