I have the cheap farm store King Kutter 72" box blade.
Behind my
L3200 (32hp, 3500lbs loaded) I excavated a ditch around my barn 3'+ deep & 10' wide. The previous owners let it get buried with erosion off the hill. Pulled it reasonably well in softer dirt. Was a bit wide for the 60" track tractor but it worked. A full box would stop the tractor.
I now pull it behind a
L4060 (40hp & 5,000lbs or so). The box is 1/4" wider than my tires (as I found out when it jamed against the tires HARD when the top hook on my QH had issues). It barely scratched packed driveways when it's hard & dry. I even have 3 grader blades chained on top for extra weight. It will do the job but needs more weight.
All in all good value for the money & will do most basic needs, especially with some extra weight strapped on.
I'm looking for a great deal on a 72" Gannon or something beefy with hydraulic scarfiers. Search may take me a few years, but I'm not in a rush as my current one gets the job done. May get derailed if I ever follow through on my LPGS build or find one around cheap.
A hydraulic toplink is a life changing experience when working with a box blade. Turns any box blade from a ax into a scalpel. Tilt forward to slowly fill the box, tilt back to gently empty. No more huge piles to deal with dumping the box by lifting the 3pt.
