5 ft tiller on YM2000 ?

My tiller measures about 4.5' and my tractor can handle the load without much difficulty. My garden plot has been in use for MANY yrs but all the rain in the winter compacts it considerably. Can run in 2nd or 3rd gear low range. Creeper range is not even a consideration. Soil will make all the diff in the world. Seem to remember running a tiller through the garden MANY yrs ago, with either a 4' or 5' behind a MF 165D. As deep as I was going this 50+ HP tractor was working hard.

As for weight, don't know but I did lift my tiller out of the bed of my Nissan pickup using a chain off the FEL. Almost didin't have enough lift to get over the side walls of the bed.

How much they asking for the 5' tiller and what kind of condition? My tiller was in VG condition with only a few minor cosmetic dings. Was so quiet the first time I used it I had to look to see if it was turning. Tines still had most of the original paint on them. Paid $600

I'm learning a little more but haven't made a decision yet.

The main thing I've learned is the correct tiller for a YM2000 is a RS1400.

The seller said his is the right one and is 4 ft, but I've read a RS1400 should be 57". (or a couple inches narrower with aftermarket tines at the outer edges). I think that's close enough to my tire width of 60".

He wants $550 for the RS1400, or $600 for his next larger one. I need to go and see if his '4 ft' tiller is really a RS1400 at 57". Condition of both tillers looked like 20 yr old good used stuff, not 'reconditioned', very little rust, normal abrasion and dents.

Mine is the RS1400 and a quick measurement before the rain came tells me its 62".. I use it with whatever gear I can get away with.. If its realld hard, 1L would be my choice.. I will typicaly run previously tilled ground in 3L or 2H. If there are allot of rocks or a stump I couldnt see, the tiller will push the tractor.. I look at it as a plus, since its not breaking anything and lets me know I've hit something.. It is a freaky feeling though.. I think its the perfect size because I can get it wherever the tractor can go(nearly, just a bit wider).. I believe the tractor can easily handle the larger size though if you dont need the narrow size..

The number in the model desigination denotes the tiller width in mm's. Where one meaures the width will affect what number we come up with. 1400mm = 55.16"

Thats a good point, my measurement was for the outside of the gearboxes.. Thats the measurement I'm most concerned with.. As for the tine area, the 55.16" makes sense.. The tiller will fluff the tracks of the tractor w/o a problem though, and my tires are flipped..
