I was thinking the same thing. I'd have to put it on my SD's toolbox to get it high enough. 15 gallons of diesel about 100# or so?

I bought the same can from Northern Tool, drove a 2X4 along the bottom, filled her up and then raised and secured her to the second floor joists in the garage where I store the tractor. All downhill and works like a charm!!!

I have an idea. Let's stop raggin on Wal Mart and start on government for a while.:p In the newest TSC bluebook a non CARB 5 gallon plastic diesel container is $8.31 and the CARB model is $14.38! What's the difference? That d*** "antispill" nozzel! Ever try to use one of those on a full 5 gallon can??? Fortunately TSC also sells the regular nozzle for only $1.98! I am heading for a vacation in Nashville next week and will pass through several non-CARB states. Think I'll pick up an extra can. :D

So another "I gotta ask" :). How do you refill the tank when it's empty?

I don't go through that much fuel in the winter, as the tractor is used only for snow plowing/blowing. When empty, I will just take it down from a step ladder, refill and then use the FEL to lift it back into position (more or less). Once it's close to the anchors, I use ratchet straps .

Someone mentioned a nice MYTH. In documented reality Wallmart often puts whole towns out of business and then they also leave. Like modern day Vikings, they rape and pillage and then leave (not always but have done so frequently) leaving no viable community center behind, literally no incentive for someone to ride in on a white charger and open a store to sell at lower than Wallmart prices because the towns commercial center is defunct and with easy transportation folks just go elsewhere. This is not speculation or political theory of any ilk, it has been documented as fact, numerous times.

Wallmart is as much a plague as a bargain store.

Back to the original post - $6 dollars cheaper than TSC would be really nice since I just got 2 yellow plastic diesel cans for $5 each at TSC. Yeah, they are the unvented PITA cans. Traveller 15w40 $5.98/ gallon at TSC beats the Supertech price. Diesel additive is cheaper there too.
I don't usually keep diesel in the cans. When the tractor is running low I buy 10 gal and fill it up.

Hogwash. Pure urban myth and anti Wal-Mart propaganda.

Please back this up with real facts and not rumors and such. Name JUST ONE TOWN that went out of business when WalMart moved in. Just one. I don't think you can.

Granted some small businesses may close their doors but they were probably marginal business wise anyways and WM was just the death blow.

Geesh.

Saying Walmart is responsible for driving businesses to outsource to foreign countries is completely misdirected blame. It is all simple ecomomics. The company I work for, which has nothing to do with general consumer products, is in the process of moving our manufacturing to Mexico. Why? Because production is MUCH cheaper and the company profits go up accordingly. We also do business with some very large industrial controls companies. They all have moved their manufacturing facilities to Mexico and Asia. This is free enterprise. This is capitalism. This is America. The goal is to provide a product to a consumer at a price he is willing to pay and make a profit for the company. Anyone, large or small, who was in business for himself would be doing the same thing, or he would be out of business. Even the owner of a local independent ski shop makes trips abroad during the off season to stock up for the next year's ski season.
And why single out Walmart? What about Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Albertsons, Kroger, Tom Thumb, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, and all the other many many large chains that supposedly kill the Mom's and Pop's. The top dog always draws the jealosy of the masses.
The other night I needed to pick up some tarp straps, caulk, bottled water, and some milk. One quick stop at WM and I am back home. :D
