Buying Advice 50 acres and a new tractor

According to his profile he is retired army working overseas so he can buy his piece of property. Sounds good to me.
The 45 is a nice tractor, I think a good size for your land and requirements. Good Luck.

I have a DK45SE on my 38 acres and its been a good tractor. The closest dealer to me is about 40 miles away. I did not end up buying from him as the extra $4500 he wanted on the sale was more than I could swing. The next nearest dealer is about 100 miles away.
I bought a shop manual and have done all the maintenance on it for the 280 hours I have put on the unit.

First i would like to say hi to all. I have been reading your forum for a couple of months and have learned many many things from you all.
I am currently in Afghanistan but will be home for a couple of weeks in the next 10 days. My wife has purchased 50 acres since i've been gone (we will move there within a couple days of my return) and it is out intent to buy a tractor as soon as i get home. I have read and reread about tractor models, sizes, etc. and had finally decided the Kioti DK45SE would meet my needs well and give me the best bang for my buck. I had decided to buy new specifically for the warranty/servicing and the piece of mind i would have once i went back to Afghanistan and left the keys with my wife. Now comes my issue. I have one dealer that is 135 miles (they sent me a quote) and one dealer that is 90 miles (they never sent me a quote) from my 50 acres. Additionally, i currently live only 10 miles from a Kioti dealer but of course the 50 acres is 200 miles from my current home. I am hesitant about buying from the dealer where my current home is knowing that they will not be the one serviceing my tractor once i move. Would you all consider buying a tractor knowing the dealerships are so far away or would you move on and look at a different brand but with a dealership that is much closer? Thank you all for your time and sorry this is quite long.

I agree that this COULD be the case for you. If you are military, then you know Murphy. I would try to buy one off the closest dealer, because as you stated, you might be gone again for awhile. If you don't mind the MRS trying to do the maintenance, then dealer distance wouldn't be an issue.

I have done all my own maintenance, and it isn't hard. The hardest part of the maintenance on the 45 is getting all that hydraulic fluid back in after a change. buy a material pump. I have also had two or three service calls from things I shouldn't have to fix. My dealer is about 30 miles away and makes house calls.

I guess in the end it all depends on how close is close enough, and if the dealer will do pickup and return on warranty work. If they do pickup, I would want to the know the cost upfront so that I could figure that into the price when you negotiate your tractor purchase.
