50 hour service

my 50 hour service is coming up i am not sure i found the transmission suction filter it shows it in the book with a bolt head.I found something in about the location but it has a allen wrench head. Is this it and do you have to remove the tire to get it out. It is a GC1715

When I did my service on my 1710 I did not have to remove the rear tire. The screen was behind a large bolt, (left rear tire when sitting on the tractor.)
I didn't have a large enough MM wrench...I think I used a 7/8 wrench. Didn't have very much on the screen, rinsed it with kerosene.

The new GCs might be different, but mine has the behind-the-rear tire suction filter as described above. It can apparently be removed without removing the tire, but having the wheel off does make it easier to get at it. Here are a couple of pics of my 50-hr service; the odd pic is showing the metal filings on a magnet, with the tractor behind. You can see where the suction filter came out in the background, just over the top of the magnet. Should be ready for my 500-hr service real soon. Filling the transmission on my 2310 is a LOT easier with the backhoe off, BTW.

Also, make sure you have a large enough drain bucket- there's a lot of fluid in there!

No. You can see where the strainer goes in this photo, from Irving.

The opening it threads into, is the dark circle, at the end of the magnet. It has a large hex head. located at the 8 o'clock position looking at the end of the left axle.
