50 hour service

Coming up on the 50 hour for my 790, and the place I bought my unit quoted me at around $400. Since I bought the 790 I have moved to a more rural area, and the local dealer says the 50 hours service is only about $180. As this dealer deals mainly in larger machines, could he be overlooking something in his quote?

Did he say that $180 included parts and fluids, or just labor? See above....around $108 or more just for the filters, and fluids sounds about rigtht but, I don't know on a 790 ...I'd have to check old receipts to see what it took for my 4115.

If they will do the whole job (per the manual) for $180, I'd say it's a deal. Can you check with any one else in the area who has had service there to get some feel for reputation?

Just got done with my 50 hour service on my 4310. 6.8 gallons of transmission fluid - WOW. I'd anticipated that volume and bought a couple of drain pans. Plan worked out pretty well overall.

Net cost: $0. I bought the tractor with 42 hours on it and decided that this would be a great way to get to know the new addition to the stable (that doesn't have hooves). Also gave me a chance to clean it up a bit and do the obligatory bath and waxing of the hood to get it looking its best and also deal with the dusty environment of the barn.

All wheels were torqued fine, oil change was no problem. Front axle fluid was a little low - have to bug the dealer for that one.

Overall, totally enjoying the tractor!

Next project is to build/weld some draw bar clips so that I can move the boat around, etc. - mostly just for fun. It's really all about trying out the new toys!
