Thanks for the tips ON84. Ya, if I do myself I will order a filter kit. There is a guy on eBay that has complete oem kits for about $150 delivered. Just pricing out the oil and filters and it's gonna be in the $500 range total. The 30 liters of hydraulic fluid being the killer. Oh well. Maybe I'll win a few bucks this year at the weigh offs. :)

OK, Murphy, don't yell at me here! I agree that flushing is probably not needed BUT the owners manual does say to do it. Now, I've had my HST replaced under warranty, and if they'd come back and said I didn't do something that they required to maintain my warranty and denied the claim, I'd have been some PO'd. Now for that to have happened, the dealer would have had to have been involved in the decision and been passing information to Kioti, so if your dealer is telling you not to bother changing fluids, then you'll probably be just fine. My dealer not only said to do it, they included the labour, came to my house and did it for me and let me watch, take notes and ask questions.

Murphy, I know that you say the shop manual says you don't need to change the oil on the DK's. You'd probably have a good argument that you could probably win if anything ever happened (realistically, it never will), but I don't have a shop manual, and I just don't feel like fighting. For a few hundred bucks in oil and filters, I just did what I was told, right or wrong.

Sorry, I just mean changing the oil. I know the magnetic plugs and filters are there for this very reason, but I was shocked to see how much metal filings came out with the magnetic drain plugs. They were probably like that after the fist 10 minutes and I can't argue with your logic (from another thread) that if it can handle 50 hours that way, why not 400.

You talking bout engine oil? You not changing your breakin oil till 200?

Also, Ken. I can't find anything in the manual or service manual about flushing. ???? Also, does anyone have the manual (not service manual) on pDF? I like using me iPad as a reference. Just slide it into a ziplock bag to keep it clean and refer to it while I'm doing the work.

I don't have it in front of me, so I can't tell you exactly how it's worded, but it says to change (i.e flush) the hydraulic oil and filters at 50hrs.

Here is something my Kubota dealer said to try, and it may work for you too. He said to place a Shop vac hose over the HST fill hole. There is enough suction to allow you to remove and replace the oil filters, but not enough to suck all the Hydraulic fluid out. You will lose some fluid, but not very much. I have not tried this yet as I am only at 30 hours, but it seems like an excellent idea. If it works on Kubota, I would think it would work on Kioti as well.
