I was just up on the roof at work... biggest storm/rain in a decade expected this weekend... so I was checking and clearing downspouts and scuppers... the last of the leaves recently dropped...

Surprised to see thin sheets of ice on the roof... very rare for this city.

It is 45 and dead calm outside with blue skies... just perfect in my book... most have winter coats, scarfs, mittens because it is so cold... go figure?

I would rather go home knowing everything is "Ready" than get a call at 2 am saying water is leaking and have to go up on the roof to attempt to clear a blockage.

There is a row of towering Eucalyptus on a neighboring property and the city has declared these to be heritage trees... they can be a handful in stormy weather dealing with leaves, branches and bark that is shed...

The rule of thumb for when it's safe to drive on the ice: wait two weeks after the last story in the paper about a vehicle going through the ice.
