Im glad people are seeing this and it is impacting their decision on a new purchase. I still haven't heard from JD as to their resolution. Im putting it in their hands to make this right. If they don't I will make more noise than a mule in a tin barn. Every forum I can find I will tell my story, I will sell every JD I have and never look back. I have told the dealer this as well. The ball is in their court. On a side note, seeing thst tractor split in half affirmed my reasons for not wanting to keep it, lines hanging everywhere, tubes open and not covered, parts strung everywhere, comparable to my wife having her c- section lol.

Did you change wives just because of her requiring a C-SECTION?

Lol, no she would be alot harder to get rid of.... My big complaint is its got 40 hours on it, unacceptable in my book.

This is an interesting thread since Deere was on my list of cab tractors I was considering. Is this another brand of tractor that they painted green and sold as their own from some other country?

I have read that the JD 5000 series is made in India. It certainly seems that the 5000 series has more problems than any of the other series.

Dealer called this morning, the engine block is machined wrong causing the oil leak. They sent info and pics to John Deere. Now I am really becoming uneasy about the quality of not only my tractor but anything setting on the lot as well. He said there is no easy fix now, new engine block, etc? I believe now I'm leaning towards a money back instead of replace with new, this is completely unacceptable on a $38k tractor. We also agree there is too much fluid in the clutch housing for it to be just oil, probably has a transmission leak as well. Still haven't hear from Regional Rep. for his offer from John Deere.

I feel for you. I don't know if JD will give you all the money back, but I would think they would give you a new tractor.

Dealer called today, will require new block, regional rep said to give me a new tractor. We shall see how it holds up. I guess it was some aggravation being without it and a few phonecalls but in the end JD is doing what is right. I don't mind staying loyal as long as the loyalty is both ways and it appears they are holding up their end of the bargain. Just wish I didn't have to deal with the emissions but I have noticed the new ones have the telescopic rear arms and a relocated exhaust stack to the cab corner, 2 things my other tractor didn't have. Thanks for everyone's replies. Hope this one is a little better than the last.

Yes, congrats on the outcome and good for you. Please keep us posted on the progress.

I'm glade it work for for you. I like the new Tier 4 emission tractor. A lot less diesel smell and it runs strong.

That's a great outcome. Please post some pics of the new tractor and what your impressions are of it after you get to use it for a little bit.

Yeah im not completely ignorant:thumbsup: thats my son on my neighbors tractor I helped him restore, just finished it last week. Sorry to bring red paint in a JD forum. Just testing how it worked. I will post pics of new 5055e when it arrives and give you my impressions.

Keep updating... good or bad.

Sounds like you've turned the corner on this...

Sounds like a good outcome. Too bad you had to go through all this aggravation though. I have had two E series tractors, worked them hard, and both have been very reliable. I cant think of any problems on them and have only had to change oil and filters so either I was lucky or its not a generic issue. The quality control is a bit worrisome though if your case was not properly machined and they did not catch that at the factory.

I've been thinking about a Deere 5055D or a Massey Ferguson 2615. Both are made in India. I've owned a MF 231 for over 8 years and been 100% satisfied. Never owned John Deere but I'm glad to know they stand behind their product after reading your thread. Good luck on the new tractor and glad things went in your favor, just as it should have in the 1st place.

Went to dealer this morning, picked out the new 5055E, installing loader this week, loading tires, delivery Friday. The new tractors have front cab lights, corner cab exhaust, digital dash and telescopic links on the 3 point hitch. Still a little confused on the dpf regen but I think I can figure it out after some use.

/ 5055E Issues #39
I think you'll be surprised how unobtrusive the regen is.

It sounds like you got a up grade on your new tractor. That's good.
Don't worry about the Re-gen the tractor will do it by it self. Just read the owner manual.
