Glad to hear things are getting resolved. The manager showed integrity by coming to your home and talking with you.

Being ignorant of newer tractors, i have an 07 5303, will someone please explain the "Regen" thingy for me. I've been following this thread with interest & sadness at the QC issues here.

Thanks,
Ronnie

In regen mode exhaust temp is raised to help burn soot out of muffler. Some where in tractors life I'll bet this filter will require replacement. RE567056 Diesel Particulate Filter - DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER 1,544.76 USD

Are DPF's only on the smaller diesels for final Tier 4? I just had a quick look and it seems John Deere uses SCR technology (exhaust fluid) on a 6m for example, eliminating the need for a DPF. Seems strange the smaller ones have DPF as they would be much more likely to clog up the filter. I absolutely hated the DPF on my truck with the regens and couldn't remove it quick enough. I actually don't mind the SCR on my new tractor because you would never know it's there, no regens ever. Just top up the exhaust fluid every couple hundred hours.

Got up this morning and now it appears the lower radiator hose is leaking , its almost laughable at this point. I wanted to check them yesterday but there is a shroud that needs removed to access them and they were not leaking so I let it go. Now that the top one is no longer relieving the pressure, it went to the lower one. Strictly an assumption by me at this point but its in the vicinity of the hose and im sure the clamp is loose. Ive had possession of it 5 days and it has been worked on by me or the dealer every one of them. Im getting that warm and fuzzy feeling again about sticking with John Deere. Stay tuned everybody, grab your popcorn and peanuts, this is making a real story.

John Deere uses worm type clamps for some reason(cheaper) Automotive spring clamps maintain tightness as things expand and contract with temperature.
The worm type clamps will need to be tightened a couple of times and will eventually almost stop leaking. I had about 10 different leaks when I got mine (oil, fuel, hyrdraulic) and after the dealer tightening twice and I tightened a few after they no longer dripped, just seeped a little. You would think they would save money on warranty claims by using proper clamps.....

The Deere tractors with scr still have dpf also. They claim by using both, they use less def fluid. They also have cooled egr as well. I don't really understand the dislike of exhaust filters. Only real problem I have seen is when operator disables auto and forgets to turn it back on. Occasional bad sensor maybe.

I've often wondered if Deere Corp reads TBN like Kubota does?

More than a few time Kubota has stepped in from posts on TBN which is great for a large manufacturer.

Can't remember when exactly... I have in the past e-mailed Corp links on discussions just to make sure they were aware...

Sound like the KYThunder is hanging in there and sharing is a way to vent and exchange ideas...

Sure does look like a beautiful rig...

Well, as I suspected it was both the clamps on the lower radiator hose, I put another 3/4 turns on the ones I tightened the night before. I keep hearing how its normal but I have never ever had to go around any tractor, car, atv, etc and tighten clamps up when new. Anyway, I got all that done and I see a new drip on other side of tractor, antifreeze as well. Today is not going to be a good day for my dealer.....Ive had all I want of this thing. You know if it had only been a drip here or there is one thing but this has been a disaster from day one and I won't even mention the reason I got this tractor is because my other one was a lemon.

I've never heard of any problems with hose clamps before either. Usually the hose itself sticks the the metal so tight that the clamp isn't even needed. It does scare me how many little things they got wrong and what are the odds that they got the big things right.

It's not a lemon if its normal, lol. The good ones are lemons. I'm not helping am I.........

Facts are facts, you don't want to get me going, I have remained PG rated for this forum. I think the yellow paint on the John Deere is actually "Lemon Yellow". I told the dealer last night it is nothing but a lawn ornament, an expensive one at that. I have yet to do one ounce of work with it or attached anything to it, too busy crawling around fixing their mistakes or tracking leaks.

I know, I went through 3 years of **** with mine, problem after problem. Started with small things but got bigger and more serious the more it was used. Some problems drug on and on and the dealer couldn't fix, warranty ran out and John Deere said your on your own, trade it in on an 80k 5100E. I traded it for a different colour and took quite a loss just to relieve my frustration every time I used that pos.

I am here to warn others, most will not listen and buy green anyway.

It's frustrating just reading this thread. I experienced the same thing on a new car 30 years ago. I've never bought another GM product since then. Time to call it quits and find a different tractor IMO. Sorry your going through this.

Dealer is coming again...6 days of ownership, 6 days of repair. If they don't buy it back it will not stay at my place one day after warranty, doubt it makes it in my barn near that long. Stick a fork in me..im done. I mentioned buyback, he said they aren't going to buy it back over antifreeze leaks, I said yeah but what about all the crap I went through with the lemon and now you all messed up the new one and I have pictures to prove it, he said yeah that looks bad on us. Todays leak is on the bottom of the charge air cooler (which should not have antifreeze in or on it), dripped last night, dry everywhere above and around it, going to do a pressure test and try to track everything down. Peanuts, popcorn, ice cold beer here!

/ 5055E Issues #76
Good luck! Dealer told me they nor John Deere would not do a buy back ever but if you make enough noise on a brand new tractor I think they will.

Does you State Lemon Law cover your purchase... is it used for personal non-business use?

There is also the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act...

THE MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY ACT: AN OVERVIEW | The Center for Auto Safety

As an arbitrator... any buy back starts with a defect which substantially affects the use, value or safety of a consumer product.

Use often comes into play based on the number of days a product has been out of service in the warranty period.

As with most anything legal... Documentation and number of failed Reasonable Attempts is key...

Options may include extending the warranty, buy back or replacement if the case is decided in your favor.

Another little fact that is often lost is the days out of service under a warranty claim extend the original warranty period for those documented days...

So something that has been in the Dealer's shop for 30 days waiting for parts under warranty extend the original warranty 30 days...

Lemon law doesn't apply to farm tractors in KY. I think if I called JD and told them the entire story about delivery, showed the pictures, I would have more ground to stand on but if I do that it will throw the dealer under the bus and possibly cost him his job. I know him personally and I can not do him that way. Even as bad as this has been he has made every attempt to make it right (apologies, came personally to look at it, helped me get the new tractor, answered texts at 9:00 at night, etc). The issue with me is I am to the point about the only thing that's going to make it right is a fat check and it goes back where it came from. If this first 6 days is any indication of the quality I have, the future looks pretty dim. I guess I will let them work on it today and see if the problems stop, if not my morals may start to fade.

Was not sure if you had a business use or not... Lemon Law also doesn't apply to Farm Tractors in California used for business... only if you were to use it for your hobby ranch...

The Federal Statute is more encompassing... and yes, sometimes to win you have to have a take no prisoner approach.

Sounds like my story. Told the salesman I won't keep my POS one day after the warranty has ended. Unfortunately I will most likely stay with deere but step up to a 5100e
