The Magneson-Moss act is what protects consumers here in the US. It (this is purely from memory so my facts could be messed up)states that if an auto manufacture was to require maintenace done to a vehicle to be done with only manufacture's parts (maintenance only, not replacement parts) and only by dealers of that product, than the maintenance must be done free of charge. Most re-worded their warranties to rely on the "schedule" of maintenance, with proof being a strong loop-hole. I think BMW went the other way and allowed only wear items (non-warrantied items like tires and brakes)to be replaced in kind, but actual maintenance is free of charge during the warranty.
I wonder if tractors are covered under the same law. Even if they aren't, warranties in th US are still treated similarly because an old precident has already been set.
