50W Headlights

called sylvania 800 automotive number (800 347 3420)

They offer a model 795 which is a Halogen that puts out 50w. The problem is it also puts out 3 times the heat.

They referred me to Action Products, 800 892 9657 who is a distributer. They had 2 other options. A model 796 which is a 35 watt halogen and also a 3497 by Stanley which is an 1156 with a 27watt, but filled with krypton and that would throw as much light as the 35 watt halogen.

Any one who has been using the 50 watts had anymelting problems yet? The distributor reported that he knew of folks who had problems with melting tail light housings...

Hi Milkman,

Not to hi-jack the thread but I've got a G5200 also. What do you use for a battery in yours? I modified my mounting brackets so I could get a cheaper NAPA battery wedged in instead of the Kubota battery priced like solid gold around here. Dave..

I stuck a set of the Night Blaster 701s in my BX2200's headlights last night, so I'm another guinea pig. Improvement over the stock pair of 1156 bulbs is very obvious. Gotta do the math yet to see if the stock "alternator" has enough current for these.

Didn't see any of the #702s. Might have been out of stock.

regards,

Mahlon

RiverW, I did the same to mine when the original battery died, modified the hold down and have to tilt the radiator a little to get the battery in, that wasn't a problem since the radiator moves a small amount without removing anything.
When I bought my bx2200, I sold the G5200 to my son who wouldn't part with it for the world.

Well, after an hour or so of operation no melting/adverse effects seen on my BX2200 due to the 50W headlamp bulbs. Still going...

Mahlon
